Everyone else uses the BOG deathgrips, but the versatility of the ball head on this unit is amazing, I shot a coyote on the run a couple weeks back at over 200yds because I was able to move so fluently with the ball head of this unit. It is light and versatile and I would recommend it to anyone. Compared to all other tripods with the ball head, the price point on this unit also makes it stand out! Great work Athlon Optics
On the heavy side. Knobs were finicky but over all it was easy to adapt to the terrain.

Light weight for a aluminum tripod, solid build with a tight lockup. The price with a ball head makes it a no brainer. No issues with a kitted out 20s, mk12 or thermal binos on top ranging from prs matches to back country hunting.
Light, quick to set up, and plenty strong. Very smooth ball head with great adjustment range, nothing else comes close at the price. While everything I read prior to purchasing said it was intended only for optics and not ideal for shooting, I've shot several rifles mounted on it with zero issue.
I purchased this tripod to replace a Manfrotto tripod I was using with an Athlon spotting scope. This tripod is not a light as some carbon fiber models but is affordable and packs down to a easily transportable size.
Great affordable tripod. I have used this as a shooting platform and ready and it works. The fact that the ball head is so easily managed and manipulated makes this a great affordable tripod. The legs are very adjustable to accommodate uneven ground and the spike feet help it remain stable in soil. Also, make sure that you get the adjustable rifle clamp for those rifles without an ARCA rail (or the ones you don't want to disfigure by installing one). I have used but the ACRA rail and the vice to zero rifles, a shotgun, and a crossbow and it worked flawlessly!
This tripod work for what I want. Easy to set up light but sturdy shot 308 off of it and didn’t face any movement. And light enough and awesome for setting my spotting scope on love the ball head movement and adjustments. Definitely getting another one for my AR.
Exceptional features and weight for a lighter and entry level tripod. Would not use this to shoot a heavier rifle or higher caliber rifle off of. Would be fine for shooting lighter weight and lighter recoiling rifles, or for a Spotting Scope as is my intention. Love that it has built in ARCA capability.

I use this at the range for my Athlon Cronus spotter. It works perfectly and I would not change a thing. I have not had to use the "hook" for stabilization as it is on level concrete at the range.
