Description

Click on the AMMO link for a list of recommended pellets. The ACCESSORIES link has a list of fun targets and safety gear you'll need.
This version of the Discovery does not include a pump, tank, yoke or fill adapter. To connect your Discovery to a scuba tank, you'll need a scuba tank adapter with hose and a female quick-disconnect with male threads. The tank must have a K valve.

To exhaust air or CO2 from the rifle, you need to purchase the degasser tool.

Get into precharged guns at an unheard-of price and also get the accuracy of an expensive European rifle!

Benjamin has bridged the gap and taken the pain out of PCP guns. Not only is this as low a price as you'll ever find on a PCP rifle, but it's so easy to pump up that a wispy teenager could do it!

The Discovery has raised the bar for PCP guns because it uses only 2000 psi of air. While the European companies race toward higher and higher air pressures, Benjamin is going the opposite direction and making it easier than ever to use a hand pump. If you want to use a scuba tank or carbon fiber tank, you can do that, too, and get the benefit of many more fills than you would from a gun that operates with 3000 psi. The Discovery gives you a choice! The air reservoir is 135cc. The air tank has a male Foster fitting.

The gun comes with a hardwood stock, Williams fiber optic front and rear sights, and a built-in air pressure gauge.

When you open your box, you'll see easy-to-follow and easy-to-understand instructions that'll lead you step-by-step. If you're an experienced PCP user, you'll soon see that the Discovery is the easiest PCP you've ever used. If you're new to PCPs, you'll become a pro in just a few short steps.

If you want to switch to CO2, that's easy to do, but you'll need a degasser tool to quickly exhaust all the air before filling with CO2. Attach the optional CO2 adapter, connect it to a standard paintball CO2 tank and fill 'er up! Now, commence to shootin'!

With high-pressure air, you'll get up to 25 powerful shots before you need to pump up again. On CO2, you'll get a lot more shots per fill.

Affordable pcp; larger sized than I anticipated but for the better; looks nice from the box

Bluing wore off where it contact the cardboard packaging.

Purchased for youngster. Bigger and heavier than I thought but never saw one in person. I like it, but it seems a little big right now for my child. I also like that a hand pump can be used without hardship and replacement parts are available. Still haven't used it much but have a favorable initial impression so far.

I have a .22 cal. Love it. Light wieght, small and easy to carry. It likes lots of pellets. Loves the gto's. I can get dime size groups at 35 yards.

Multi shot. Some more power.

The sweet spot on mine @1700 psi for about 10 shots. I use gto, jsb 18 and crossman pellets.

Consistently accurate (find the right pellet) Mine likes the JSP Exact 18.13 Grain best. Numerous aftermarket parts available. I put a moderator/silencer on and it is so quiet I can shoot in town. The gun is light weight.

I would (have) put a new butt plate on the stock to prevent slippage.

I have the .22 version and have modified the trigger (metal), and the bolt probe (longer). This gun will consistently take down Collared doves out to 50 yards-very quietly. This gun is so consistent I haven't really considered upgrading. I am disabled so the pump mechanism for fills doesn't work- but a small scuba tank works well, and you can get them cheap/used. The gun operates in the 2000 PSI (Max) down to the 1000 PSI range which allows about 30 fills per tank. It will shoot about 18 shots per fill before needing to refill. Most PCP air guns operate at higher pressures-which increases the cost for equipment (filling). Put a quality scope on it and you will be surprised how far it will reach out- (seriously consider Mill dots as they help you learn ranges/drop/wind, etc.). I believe shooting this air gun for a few years has significantly improved my shooting at big game with powder rifles.

Loved the stock on this one, really liked the metal safety. Works fine and has all the accuracy and power i want. I did a few mods and have 1 hole 5 shot groups @ 40 yds, a fox met his end @ 70 yd head shot. Great starter pcp

Metal trigger guard, second barrel band, the shot count is more like 12 to 15 instead of 25 as listed

Dont get this pcp anywhere else but PA. Local gun shops seem to have the crappy selection of these fine air guns, plus PA has the best staff. Gun arrived right on time.

It was accurate, when it held air, when the bolt decided it wanted to work, when it decided in it's bi-polar condition that it would fire at full power. Yeah, wonderful.

Manufacturing. Plastic (not even polymer?!) trigger : / Cheap internal parts that are difficult to field strip and assemble again. Trigger is non-adjustable, and oh yeah....plastic. Barrel needs to be better than "Red Ryder" grade, it seems to be the cheapest, thinnest, steel barrel they could put on this thing, no shroud? And the steel on the barrel is way to thin, like it's made for a kid's bb gun. This is supposed to be a "hunting rifle", .22 caliber and it has a cheap barrel. Not surprised. Compression gauge never reads right, even if I had NO air in it, the gauge read 100psi. Degassing doesn't work. Hammer spring is junk, most people on many forums say they replaced the spring with one from a Glock 17!! WTF? Overall: It fired fine for a week. Yup, that's it. A week. After that, owning this gun, you'll need to get used to the following procedure: 1. Notice a leak. 2. Tear down, attempt to diagnose. 3. Replace the parts, put back together. 4. Notice a leak, 5. Repeat 1-3.

Yes. Crosman is JUNK! Cheap parts, junk made upper, constant leaking and FPS drops when it's on an "off" day and the gun is in a bad mood, No sling attachments, even, and the safety likes to just fall out. No, I'm not joking. Difficult and very time consuming and frustrating to field strip, and even more so to re-assemble. Parts are cheap junk, the O rings didn't match the holes/ports they were put into, and you have to have the fingers like a child to easily load a round into the chamber.

I had the QB78 before this, and was Chinese made, and lasted 3 years. This piece of $300 garbage lasted 4 months. I grew tired of constantly finding ANOTHER leak, and looking for the issue, only to find out I made another leak when I assembled it! I can't believe that Remington puts their ownership and work into such junk.

All in all: Biggest waste of time and money, and nothing but frustrating. I spent more time trying to fix it than firing it.

Mine is a Discovery/ Maximus/Prod hybrid. Discovery air tube and Magnum Airpower valve, Maximus barrel and Prod trigger and frame. Couldn't use the stock, so I got a Crosman plastic stock. Power wise and accuracy, it put my Marauder to shame so I sent that one back. Since I really wanted a multi-shot and the Marauder didn't work for me I got a Hatsan AT-44 10S. The AT-44 doesn't have the power or accuracy of my Disco/Maxi/Prod, but after 3 months I'm still tuning/modding it. I still love the Disco and it gets more use than any of my other airguns. Did I mention that it is easy to mod/tune?

Just have to add this thought! In order to be able to field strip a gun you must have a brain and reasonable intelligence. Judging from your review, you DO have a brain. As seen by the fact you CAN write. But also judging by your review, the reasonable intelligence part is in question! MOST of what you say is not even true! And the parts that are, such as the non adjustable trigger I googled on the internet and did a "three screw upgrade"! AND I liked the gun so much, I bought another with a beautiful multi color stock for $300. Put that stock on mine, my stock on it, and sold it for $250! So I now have a beautiful Discovery which had given me NO problems over several thousand rounds and is superbly accurate. Fifty yard 1 inch 5 shot groups are the WORST, with an occasional half inch and a very occasional 1/4 inch ctc also popping up. Three quarters of and inch groups are common! These are all 5 shot groups! To sum, I find this gun extremely accurate, extremely reliable, and great!

pcp4me Jun 18, 2017

Wow! Your "review" is SO suspect! First, this is NOT a Remington. Not even remotely! Next, can't even wrap my head around your babble about the barrel being "thin"! Not on MY Discovery! Third, this is one of the EASIEST guns I have ever field stripped! SO......three strikes and you're OUT! Now the TRUTH about this gun! Mine is EXTREMELY accurate. And with thousands of round through it, no problems with quality! I liked it very well, and have only one major complaint! It is a single shot! But I solved that with an after market multi shot breech add on which uses Marauder magazines! After the multi shot breech upgrade, REALLY liked it, so I bought a beautiful multi color after market stock for it! So I now have a multi-shot disco that looks really nice! It is super accurate and has given me ZERO problems. So what is the difference between the David who wrote this review and myself, also a David? Probably the gun owner. IF the gun was as bad as you say, you SHOULD have returned it!

Very accurate right out of the box. Light weight and easy to handle. Fixed sights work well but add a good scope.

Very loud.

Great pcp air rifle for the money. Skip the pump and get a scuba tank for filling.
Once you add a scope it will put the pellet where you put the crosshairs.
Loud! Definitely not backyard friendly.

I like the wide wooden stock. I cleaned the barrel, checked all the screws for tightness, mounted a scope, and went to the range with several different weight pellets to try it out. I checked from 14.3 to 18.1 pellets and they were all close, but I chose the JSB 14.3 for its slightly (very slightly) better accuracy. This guns out of the box surprised me, it puts the pellets touching at 25 yards off the bench. It cronied these 14.3 pellets at 850 fps.

I know it's for safety, but the trigger (thanks lawyers) is pretty heavy.

The bolt and trigger both are a little hard when the gun is new, but after breaking it in, they smoothed up.

Simple design that has lead the way for many shooters into PCPs for a long time. Due to the number of them in customers hands, there are a good number of aftermarket items available for a Discovery, should a person desire to personalize it. Absolutely excellent Williams Fire Sights. They are a significant step-up from the traditional black-on-black sights during the twilight transition period at each end of the day. I really like them. Plan to use them a good bit before mounting a scope.

It would be nice if Benjamin/Crosman decided to lighten the Sear Spring and Trigger Return Spring a bit.The trigger assembly has a fairly hefty set of springs. I understand in todays world why they are heavier than they need to be though. Benjamin/Crosman (or ANYONE) should offer a high pressure air pump to fill a tank, which would run off a Tractor PTO. Should reduce the cost of a pump considerably to design one without needing a motor of its own. The Discovery needs a set of Sling Studs, but I can add them myself. And I'll probably put a satin weatherproof finish on the stock.

The first one I got would not hold air. Disappointed to say the least. I spoke to Dan at Pyramyd and he told me how to get the RMA procedure started by clicking on Contact Us in the upper right corner of the Pyramyd web page. It did cheer me up to know Pyramyd was paying the Return cost - very nice touch. I got the second Discovery and noticed it had 1Kpsi in it on arrival. Pumped it up and it is holding air just fine.

This one pumped up to 2Kpsi from 1Kpsi using an AirForce pump in 52 pumps. It took 4 pumps(of the 52) to reach the 1Kpsi level already in the Discovery tank and then hear the Click of the Air Valve opening. Your pump may take a few less or a few more depending on the design.

Don't expect this to shoot like a $$$HIGH$$$ air rifle, but the Discoverys do shoot well enough to kill squirrels, nuisance birds and enjoy a lot of good old plinking.

It took two returns to get one that held air even with the additional cost testing. PA was prompt in providing replacement . But still, three to find one that will hold a charge after testing?

External appearance is good, but apparently internal fitting leaves something to be desired.

It looks like about 16 shots before the need to recharge. A bit limited but a fair trade for being able to use a hand pump to charge to 2000 psi. Very good accuracy. Loading a bit tedious, but 177 cal. Probably worth the trouble I went through.

my friend and i bought a max and disco each and of the 4 guns we had to remove and teflon tape 3 of the foster fill's as the crosman black tape leaked in 3 of them simple fix and better then sending them back now all 4 hold air and never leak a bit !!

This rifle is light and shoots great. I think after a few more rounds and a good cleaning the accuracy will improve. To me it seams to have as much power as the Hatsan long rifle at 2/3 the pressure.

A better trigger assembly.
