Saris Hitch-TIte 1-1/4-inch, Bicycle Rack Accessory

I've had my Freedom rack about 2 years. While the rack itself is fantastic, the plastic insert is poor. Plastic should have never been used. Mine is now broken. The square nut has stripped out. I was luckier than some other reviewers in that my bolt would not screw in to the hitch. I'm hesitant to order replacement parts in fear of the nut/plastic insert stripping out or breaking again. In the meantime, I came up with an alternative configuration to mount the rack and it works fine. I would still recommend this rack; just have to be wary of the mounting bolt setup. I have two bolt locks I currently am unable to use.

I had the internal nut on the original Freedom 2 rack spin out and has to remove the internal plastic piece with a chisel. The 1 1/4" Hitch Tite fixed the problem perfectly.

Don’t buy this product. Bad design. If you over tighten the bolt it bends the hitch tite. It’s easy to do. So then you have to order another. Then another.

Just used the bolt as a replacement b/c mine got stuck in a 2 1/2 inch hitch reducer. Had to cut it out. Thank goodness they sell the replacement bolts. Dont over tighten if using a reducer, they wont come back out. Love the bike rack. Thanks for selling the extra parts and pieces.

Ordered to secure my hitch as it was shifting when transporting my bike. Did not solve the problem.

I had to replace the original unit because it bent beyond repair. It is not a great design, it keeps sliding inside the square tube, the lip that is supposed to hold it in place is insufficient. It makes remove and attaching the rack very frustrating. Redesign is required. The rack however is great

Purchased additional piece to use for 2nd hitch with different stem length. The bolt is now longer than the original which is great. The order process and delivery was quick and easy.

I bought this a few weeks ago and completely missed the fact that the threaded hitch pin was the wrong one for my for my carrier. Luckily I had an extra one on hand, it would have been nice to have the threaded hitch pin with the tip that fits my lock for the superclamp EX 4-Bike carrier.
