The Escape is the perfect size folding knife for everyday carry but still has a tremendous amount of capability with its one hand-opening blade. Integrated in the handle is a line cutter (perfect for cutting cord, string, seat belts, etc.), a glass breaker for extreme emergencies, our patent-pending wire stripper, and extra line cutter blades (which are stored under the handle slab). Wanted a knife that I could keep in my center console for emergency purposes. This knife has the main attributes one might immediately need in a vehicle emergency situation; seatbelt cutter and window punch. The blade and the wire strippers are of course a nice touch. For the price, you can’t beat it!
Too many rough surfaces causes scratches when trying to reach into your pocket. Within the first week of having my new knife the pocket clip ( which sticks out too far) caught on my seat belt when getting out of my truck, bending it out so it's not useable until I repair it, how many times before it breaks? Overall it's not near the quality of knife that I have come to expect from SOG, I own 3 othe SOG knives that I've had for several years, sad to see their quality fall so far.
It’s lightweight and I barely notice it on me; which is what makes it a great daily carry IMO. Haven’t used the glass breaker and I don’t intend to, but nice to know it’s there for emergencies. I always use the clip when in the pocket so no issues poking holes in pockets. Very happy with it. Bought 4 more for gifts. I don’t mind the tension on opening the blade. If you do I’m sure you can loosen it up a bit. Also like the release button on the back instead of underneath the blade. If you want a fast acting blade for one hand use this is not it.
I received this knife as a gift a few years ago. I work as a Paramedic and I camp/hike quite a bit, and this has been my go to knife/EDC for that time period. The knife itself is quite durable. I wouldn't go as far as to say it is heavy, but it is heavy duty. The extra tools on the knife are quite useful. The only con I would say is that the window punch is quite sharp and has unfortunately ripped some holes in my non-duty pants.

I purchased the Escape clip point knife as a gift for my daughter who is a First Responder. I also had it engraved. This knife does it all. It did not disappoint .
