10 of 23 Walther Reign UXT Reviews
This is a straight shooting, hard hitting, powerful air rifle. I love the look and the feel. The fore grip is super comfy. The cocking lever is more forward than other pups and is smooth as glass. The ambidextrous features are nice even for a righty. The magazine is well built, easy to load, and loads from the left or the right. The barrel is fantastic. The gun is super accurate, that's always a big plus, right. I'm not absolutely in love with the trigger, however, don't let it put you off there is nothing wrong with it unless you are an utter trigger snob. With a little work the trigger is quite nice. The stock is solid and doesn't make funny noises while operating the rifle. This has quickly become one of my favorite rifles.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would have a foster fill fitting on the side of the rifle instead of a fill probe. Other than that, it's a solid gun.
What Others Should KnowMake sure you cock the rifle before you fill it the first time. There's a bit of fuss over the trigger, I don't see it. It's fine OOB and can be made better easily enough. There is also some fuss over the muzzle break. It's not a moderator and does not easily come off and requires barrel modification to get it off. All that being said it really isn't that loud. So, unless you need complete silence I wouldn't worry much about it.
Quality, light weight.
Things I Would Have ChangedSolid stock or cover all of those screw holes. To be Regulated.
What Others Should KnowIt doesn't affect me because I don't have the property/area, so sound is not an issue for me however I do get that others would like to be able to remove the monterator without sending out to be machined? It is a $500. Mid priced PCP.
I have had this rifle for several weeks now. I also purchased the Umerex NOTOS in .22 cal. I had PCP rifles several years ago but lost all to tragedy I am 72yo so my interest has changed to this being, 'just for fun' PCPs have much improved. Rifles are very expensive. I would have liked the FX Wildcat MK3, however these best fits my wants. This was a good choice. I have a bullpup and a pistol with stock. Their weight was also a factor in selecting the NOTOS is about 4 pounds and, the Reign is about 7. Both will gain about 1.5 pounds with scope. I highly recommend both. Great fun factor. I do enjoy them both for various, but separate reasons. Compare the specs. Both are a good buy, both shoot very well. Must experiment with different pellets to fit your desires. I am more about close range target out to 30 yards. I highly recommend both. If I could have only one, I would keep the NOTOS. It is light with less mass. But the Raign has a longer accurate range.
Things I Would Have ChangedI have only one thing to suggest on the Reign magazine. On the rotating part mark the sides with a paint stripe so you can know when you are on the last pellet. Simple to do. I bought 5 mags.
What Others Should Knowit is a heavy rifle, but that also has some advantages and means a more structurally sound design. However, the other PCP bullpups have similar weights from 7 to 10 pounds. The more expensive rifles all require attentions which can result in more time, adjustment, expenses which can reduce the fun factor. Can you hunt with it? Yes. of course. But if you are buying for hunting then spend more money.
The Reign is a short stocky bullpup which is what I liked about it. Very accurate if I do my part. comfortable in the hand and to shoulder. I took whatever they call that thing on the end of barrel and replaced with a custom moderator. It tamed the the barrel report nicely. The hammer mechanism is my biggest complaint. It is "LOUD"! in the shooting position. And I didn't have my hearing aids on! :-(
Things I Would Have ChangedWe should have access to buying the European model of the Walther Reign. Those models are barrel shrouded and end of barrel threaded to receive a moderator of choice. Something I prefer on any gun in this price range and up!
What Others Should KnowIt is a nice bullpup. Just has a loud hammer mechanism bang! I you have normal hearing, you may want to wear ear plugs while shooting the Reign.
I have two of them, both in 22 caliber. One was purchased from Pyramid Arms and the other from another owner, who had removed the existing moderator. Both air rifles also had modified trigger springs and adjustments were made to the trigger pull. Once the trigger spring is replaced with of a ballpoint pen one, you will have a proper two stage trigger, and the other adjustments detailed in the instruction manual will leave you with a very nice hunting trigger. The pull weight is approximately 1.5 lbs, and is exceptionally smooth for a bullpup design. I also added Boom Mat in both of these air rifles for deadening the recoil impulse heard and felt in the stock. Boom Mat works very well in that regard. Boom mat was placed in the areas in front of and in back of the magazine insert, as well as the two open spaces in the lower rifle stock. The rifles are now very, very quiet with addition of a Donny FL Koi.
Things I Would Have ChangedAesthetically and sonically, I would like a shorter, shrouded barrel.
What Others Should KnowThe moderators were removed from both of the new ones (heat the cone and twist the can off. Then use a wrench to loosen the cone until it can be fully unscrewed. This way the moderator is not damaged and can be reused. The magazines are easy to use and cycle the rounds perfectly. I have been using H&N 18.1 grain Barracudas and accuracy is 1/2" out 30 meters. A heavy pellet is required for this air rifle. My chrono showed 960 fps with 37 flbs.
I do like the design, balance and handling of the Walther Reign. Once the noise and trigger issues are resolved, it is a pleasure to use and highly accurate. Kudos to both Umarex and Pyramid Arms.
Love the guy, I was missing a extra magazine The box was open
Things I Would Have ChangedI wish the suppresor was removable for more Options
What Others Should KnowGreat gun- very accurate , wish suppresor was
Removable for more optional suppresors
Super accurate, good shot count within the sweet spot. IMO the best psp out there in this price range.
Things I Would Have ChangedRemoveable moderator is a must. Honestly I preferred the look of the original model with the removeable moderator and the barrel shroud. Not a big fan of the pencil barrel at all. Bring that style back, add another inch or two to the barrel length and add an adjustable buttstock for length of pull and this little bullpup will take over the market. Honestly I'd buy another .22 in a minute and add the .25 to the fleet instantly if these changes ever get made.
What Others Should KnowJust remember the price point and what your buying. If you want a dual regulated pcp with all the bells and whistles,..buy an FX for 2k,...if you want a heck of good rifle for the $$$ this one is hard to beat
Length and design
Things I Would Have ChangedIt needs to be fully shrouded The gun is to loud
Powerful
Things I Would Have ChangedI went through two replacements. Gave up and got the Hatsan Invader.

I've had the gun for a couple of weeks and I really like. The gun is compact and handles great and being a left hand shooter the ambitious magazine is nice. I haven't found any pellets it doesn't shoot good some a little better than others but none bad. The only negative is the fixed moderator it's not all that quite I would like to be able to put a different one on it, but not a deal breaker. Overall I think it's a very good gun especially for the price.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe nonremovable moderator.
