    Things I liked:

High shot count, regulated shots, quietness

    Things I would have changed:

Fit and finish of parts (forgrip piece), a locking stage for the hammer (you can feel it cock, but there's a spring return to the bolt that doesn't feel natural), trigger

    What others should know:

Not extremely powerful, but great for a short range, rat or squirrel gun or an all day plinker.

    Things I liked:

Features as compared to price...excellent. Balances well, despite being heavy. It's accurate. Long shot count per fill.

    Things I would have changed:

Barrel flexes easily which leads to less accuracy, so it needs something to secure the barre/shroud to the rest of the rifle. The adjustable cheek piece doesn't rise high enough for my face. The clip sent with the rifle has never worked -- is off center.

    What others should know:

This a great rifle for the money, but don't expect it to be constructed like, nor shoot like, a Streamline, etc. There are several very good Youtube videos on how to fix various issues, like the trigger, for example.

    Things I liked:

The gun is priced well for an entry gun. It shoots well after getting into the trigger and doing what has to be done on a low priced gun with a low tech trigger. It shoots well up to the 40 yards I have to shoot it. It has many one hole groups under its belt.

    Things I would have changed:

The POI moves with a slight bump of the barrel because the shroud in heavy and it is held on by a collar on the thin barrel. There is not too much holding it steady. A device, made by a member of GTA is available to couple the barrel to the air tank increasing the overall rigidity of the barrel so it doesn't move as easy.

    What others should know:

I have heard RUMORS that there are going to be manufacturing changes made to the gun already. A larger pressure gauge, an internal change in the regulator, the proper stamp on the regulator from1200 PSI to the 1100 PSI it is set for and a change in the fore grip to make it better adaptable to the stock. If these rumors are true, I wonder if Umarex will be stand up and modify the first production models for us or just let us live with what we got? All this remains to be seen.

    Things I liked:

Price was what attracted me to this PCP rifle.

    Things I would have changed:

Maybe a better illustration of how to load the pellet magazine. Easy to get it wrong if not familiar with this setup. Consequences are jammed pellets, deformed in magazine, or rod spears through pellets.

    What others should know:

Extremely hard to cock gun. Like some medieval device requiring brute strength. When it did cock felt like metal to metal spring crunching parts. Pull the trigger and nothing. Would not fire, more jammed damaged pellets to remove. Finally banged the stock on the floor to get the bolt to come forward. Oiled lightly and repeatedly cocking seems to have loosened the bolt. I know I only paid $300 for the gun, but this is ridiculous. There is obviously no Quality Control at Umarex. Are these guns bench tested or fired at the end of the assembly line?? I will have to think hard before buying another bargain gun.

    Things I liked:

The accuracy is amazing. This is my first PCP so I knew it would be much easier to shoot accurately than a springer. I also saw the reviews and videos with impressive accuracy. It took me 10 shots to sight it in. I then shot a .5 inch group with 10 shots at 20 yards. I was never able to get anyway close to that accuracy or consistency with my Benjamin Prowler. This was from a bench, military hold, high end/accurate pellets (JSB) and with the same scope. So if you have never shot a PCP, this gun will put a smile on your face and have you shooting like a pro. There is very little recoil (nothing compared to a springer) and the noise level is reasonable. I found the gun is great for pest control which is why I bought it. I have already dropped 3 rats, all with instant kill head shot. This gun, plain and simply, delivers the goods. I use JSB 15.89 grain pellets (.22 cal) and found them very accurate so have not tried any other pellets.

    Things I would have changed:

The bolt is kind of sticky (although getting smoother as I use it) and heavy to pull back. I realize this is a "budget" PCP so a minor complaint at best. I use to have an 80's era Benjamin pump. It was easier to cock (though obviously not at powerful). The trigger is light and I have no problem placing shots but it is not exactly smooth, a little catchy/sticky as you pull the trigger. Probably what I find the most annoying is the safety. It is heavy to move and has sharp edges. I'm not sure why this needs to be so heavy or uncomfortable to use.

    What others should know:

If you are looking into getting into the PCP air guns and don't want to spend a grand, this is the gun for you. For the money, it is unbeatable. I am pumping this up with a hand pump. I'm about 175 lbs and have to use my full body weight to get close to the 3,000 psi limit. This just takes some time and patience but not a big deal. I don't shoot a lot so the pump works fine for me.

    Things I liked:

i like the shot count im getting about 80 good shots from the regulator before it falls off i having both the single shot and the magazine its not all that pellet picky. I have the Gauntlet in .22 for a couple of weeks now the bolt is heavy and gritty the trigger needs adjusted to get the best from the rifle

    Things I would have changed:

i would add a barrel support and redo the tank cover so it had a sling stud and couldnt push up against the barrel and i would add a second magazine

  • Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

This rifle is amazing. I spent almost $300 on the Benjamin Mayhem gas ram with accessories and am delighted with it as a Breakbarrel, but it cannot touch the accuracy of this Gauntlet...nor can any other breakbarrel of mine, nor similar guns I own. I've read quite a bit about PCP and was willing to wait for a reasonably priced, regulated PCP. I wanted the Marauder but the regulated version never appeared (the Benjamin Fortitude should be a total contender and an addition to my fleet). Bingo, Gauntlet finally graced store shelves (pyramyd's). Accuracy @ 18.5 indoor yards is ridiculous. Hole in hole. Almost monotonous, even with 4 different pellets... light, cheap, to even expensive and even alloy pellets perform almost equally well. The 10 round mag is great once you understand the proper cocking of the riffle. Having at least 1 mag extra is mandatory since you will shoot with abandon. Refilling with a hand pump is actually fun (think exercise) taking 60-80 pumps from 2000 to 3000.

    Things I would have changed:

The position of the front sling stud makes it very difficult to position on sandbags without damaging them. I will try removing it to see if the air tank shield has a problem. The Mag is surprisingly particular for me (I have 2) as to which pellets work in it. The rifle is not particular shooting anything I have fed it. It is heavy with a good scope. It is over 10lbs (my handling estimate) and feels more so than similarly heavy guns. The rear stud (sling mount) has to be loosened to raise the "cheek". I could not get it to screw back in when I had the cheek the whole way up. I did get this accomplished by lowering the adjustment a turn.

    What others should know:

The air gauge is not as accurate as my Air Venturi pump but very close. This was not my first Gauntlet. The first one sent to me in the box and seemingly factory fresh looked like it was handled and shot for hundreds or more rounds and I never even shot it. I would add pictures but I cannot here. PYRAMYD cross shipped me a new gun that is exquisite. Hats off to pyramyd and their support. This is my first PCP out of 8 guns. It is like a duck taking to water it is so damn easy to use. The UTG scope I bought with the package took way longer to master...15 minutes! If you are waiting to jump into PCP, STOP waiting (or wait a couple/few more months for the Benjamin competitor to consider). This gun fills from empty with 175 pumps+. Top off with 50-80 and shoot 40-80 times. GET IT!

    Things I liked:

The adjustable cheek piece is helpful but needs more upward travel and a longer retention screw (actually the back sling post). The stock design is generally good but could be better (see below). So far decent accuracy at 25 yards (length of my basement, (to cold to be outside this winter). I haven't found the magic pellet yet that gives one ragged hole accuracy, if it exists. The 60 shot metered tank is the bomb. I can shoot for a week between fills. I appreciate the fact that the single shot tray was included not an extra cost accessory like most companies market. Also appreciate that Umarex went with a standard Benjamin Marauder magazine.

    Things I would have changed:

Add LOP adjustment to the stock butt. I'm a big guy and I feel cramped up shooting the factory LOP which I believe is 14". Replace the dovetail with a picatinny rail system.

    What others should know:

The gun is a little heavy but as long as your not on a day long death march it is OK.

    Things I liked:

My Umarax Gauntlet in .177 was ordered way back and received just before Christmas. Due to work, weather, and other matters, I have not had time to shoot it a lot - I'm only on my 2nd tin of the 177 JSB 10.34 grain pellets - but it has been very accurate out to my back yard limit of 35 yards with average groups at that distance of about a dime (that's good shooting for my eyes). I have no problems with reliability or function. I've been refilling after the 50 shots but have shot over 60 a couple of times.

    Things I would have changed:

    For the price, nothing.

    What others should know:

Order extra mags and extra pellets. Mine likes the 177 JSB Match Diabolo Exact .177 Cal, 10.34 Grain pellets, followed very closely by the JSB Match Diabolo Exact .177 Cal, 8.44 Grain pellets. However, I have not had time to test a large variety of pellets. The trigger was gritty to start with but after about 500 shots it is much smoother. Its accuracy is outstanding out of the box; I have not even run a dry patch through the barrel.

This is the first pcp air rifle that I have owned and am well pleased with it so far. I shot it for the first time in 19 degree weather and it shot a group of 10 shots at 25 yrds that I could place under a dime. That is pretty good for a rifle under $300.

    Things I liked:

I am NOT here to sell this rifle, but i can tell you this rifle brought me over from the center-fire world into the air-rifle world. Accuracy and Price is phenomenal. I am new to the PCP rifle world and i find that many of the features in this rifle were well thought out. All my research before purchase has led me to wonder why are those other PCP rifles so expensive? This is a great value and very good accuracy. Great for urban pest control. I use the GAMO Red Fire Pellets from Wally world and it punches the snot out of pigeons. Also very accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

I would love it in bullpup design and in .25 cal and .30 cal. i am only getting 800 ish FPS w Crossman 14.3, variable power setting would be nice.

    What others should know:

Buy one. Since I am new to air guns, i also bought the combo kit with hand pump and extra magazine.

    Things I liked:

For the money I'm not sure you could buy a better rifle . Its a game changer, other companies will have to step up to the plate to compete. Got the rifle out of the box and was quite impressed with it. Put about 2500# of nitrogen in it and checked it out for leaks , found none. The rifle has no sights on it and I was waiting for my scope but I still managed to hit a soda can at 30yds 9 out of 10 shots just sighting down the barrel. Can't wait to scope it and put it through a day of shooting. The gauge showed a very slight pressure drop after the 10 shots . So far very impressive gun.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Very accurate, especially for the price. I was hitting a 1-inch target easily (unsupported) at 27 yards. Quite and backyard friendly. It looks really nice: the gap between the barrel shroud and the facade that goes around the tank is not ugly and conspicuous like on many other PCP guns. The adjustable cheek plate comes in very handy (more on that below). Very comfortable to hold, with a nicely ergonomic pistol grip and plenty of space to hold up front, including on the facade. The trigger is just fine. It's a little spongy in the first stage but the break is clean in the trigger pull is very light

    Things I would have changed:

There are a number of things that bug me, but are acceptable at this price. The cheek plate has to be all the way up for me to get a proper weld, and I do not have a small head. Also, the cheek plate cannot be adjusted without taking out the sling pin. The barrel is only attached at one point, so any bumps to it could permanently bend it. The facade that covers the tank is a huge pain to get on and off. If you take it off and screw the bottle in all the way, the facade will not fit because the fill valve and the pressure gauge will not not align with the slots in the facade. The bolt is very difficult to work because there is a very strong spring pushing it forward. I can't run the bolt without losing my site picture. The front sling pin is poorly placed, and if you attach a sling to it, it hangs at a very awkward angle with the barrel sticking out. Also, it's too far back to mount a bi-pod effectively. The safety is difficult to switch to safe and likes to switch itself back to fire

    What others should know:

This is a great gun for the price, but Umerex was a little too ambitious with it. I could do without a fully-shrouded barrel if it means I get more durability. I could do without sling pins if the ones provided are going to suck and prevent me from changing the cheek plate. I'm not sure why they made the bolt so hard to run. Still a great gun and I love it
