The AirForce Texan is the world's most powerful production air rifle. And it just got even more powerful: .45-caliber bullets going up to 1,000 fps and getting 600+ ft-lbs., thanks in part to AirForce's updated TX2 valve, available in .45-cal. Texans only, which produces an additional 100 fpe.
Easily load a projectile, cock the gun, take aim, squeeze the trigger and deliver jaw-dropping power. Because the gun doesn't come with open sights, you'll need to mount a scope.
An entire world of hunting opportunities has just opened up to you!
Airgun writer Tom Gaylord did some testing of the Texan, and you can see a chart of his velocity results by clicking the thumbnail images.
AirForce Airguns recommends using only lead projectiles.
Does not include the scope, rings and bipod shown in some of the images.

I have had nothing but trouble with this gun. Whoever designed the way you attach air tank to gun...bad design. The air tank always became "loose" and I had to start the attachment process all over again. The sprocket tool used to tighten air tank is difficult and tedious to use. I have fired approximately 75 rounds through gun. The last time I fired gun was on the target range. The gauge on bottle indicated it was half full. After I loaded a .357 pellet into breech I cocked gun, released the safety and when I fired, all I heard was a "click". Obviously the gauge on air tank was defective. When I contacted Airforce, they gave me a return authorization to ship rifle to them...at my expense. I spent approximately $200 to purchase a box, packing material, and shipping charge. This was 6 weeks ago, and I haven't received any communications from Airforce. I have never had to ship a defective firearm to a manufacturer on my dime. Very unhappy...
Things I would have changed:Better process to attach air tank to rifle...the sprocket tool is a terrible design.
What others should know:I would not recommend this rifle.

Well built for the most part, tuning was relatively short to accomplish sub moa at 75 yards. (257) Ive Shot around 300 rounds so far and the first 6 shots stay relatively consistent through the chrony. ( 983-939 psi sloping) I cast my own bullets and have found them to shoot very accurate thru this gun.I lube my bullets with shock oil and have had very little lead deposit build up within the barrel. I like the new flick style safety as well. Its A pretty decent air rifle and Ive had zero troubles with it.
Things I would have changed:Would be nice to have a bit more of a robust pistol grip, and forend . Also weaver or pickatinny scope and assesories mounting rather than the 11mm dove tail, that you need to buy adapters for.
What others should know:Pyramid air does a great job of answering any questions, before and after a purchase, top notch. Pay the extra 10 to have your gun test fired and inspected before shipping. Itll Prevent down time and returns.

Can it use .510 cal slugs like the hammer?
Can I buy it
I just purchased the new Texan LSS CF. Right out the box I'm getting full valve dump. I've tightened the adjuster all the way down. Dumps with 350gr. And light loads too, 220 grain. Is the valve on the bottle defective? Is the gun damaged, it full dumped at least 10 times while trying to figure out what was happening.
is there a replacement grip or upgrade for the texan lss 308 & 510 cals?

I bought a new Seneca Recluse.357 in March from PA, had it sent right to Saddle Mountain Gunsmith to have Will Piatt power tune it. He sent me chrony results. After the tune it made 192 fpe from a 140 grain bullet at 786 fps. It made 191 from an 81 grain at 1030 fps. I saw the ad on PA, the Texan is the most powerful production air rifle made. So I bought one to see. I had PA do the 10 for $10 test. (Always a great idea). They sent chrony results. An 81 grain JSB , same as Will Piatt used, made 217 fpe at 1100 fps. I knew from the first shot fired it had more than my tuned Recluse. It has more solid feel. More kick, more sound. I had to buy suppressors, they both sound alike, LOUD! I already had a Neil Clague for the Recluse, and a DonnyL for another rifle. Both are quiet now. It comes to what you want. Will Piatt sadly passed away in July, his business died as well. The Recluse is still my favorite. Beautiful wood stock and deeply blued. The Texan is painted and easy to nick.
Things I would have changed:Make it blued instead of painted. I don't care for the tank end. It just has that shoulder rest. I still can't get it adjusted where I want it.
What others should know:It's been said, You don't need it, you just want it. You'll want this. It is the most powerful .357 production air rifle made. It's quite expensive, I paid $720 for my Recluse and another $300 for the tune. The Texan was $1160. I almost traded the .357 Texan for the .45 cal, but why? The .45 will take deer or hogs, but I only hunt groundhogs.
