Description
New from Benjamin, the Mayhem SBD is a breakbarrel with a lot of attitude –but not a lot of noise. From its sturdy stock to its quiet shots, this gun is ready to drop targets and small game with style.
Loaded with features, the Mayhem includes Crosman’s all new SBD technology, a modified suppressor that makes this gun 3x quieter than other breakbarrels in its class. The asymmetric SBD (silencing barrel device) is designed to keep out of the way of the included 3-9x40 AO scope, a step-up from the optics included with its Trail and Rogue lines, and mounts on the Picatinny/Weaver rail. For easy cleaning, the SBD suppressor comes apart with a single screw. If you prefer to go without the scope, Crosman included a front post and an adjustable rear sight for those who want to put their shooting skills to work.
Designed with the shooter in mind, the Mayhem’s soft touch synthetic stock features multiple textured handholds for an easy grip and sling mounts for field carrying. Crosman’s Nitro Piston technology ensures that this gun will be easy to cock, shoot straight in cold weather, and not vibrate when you pull the trigger. The Mayhem also sports an adjustable 2 stage trigger, so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting a smooth pull. As if all of this wasn't good enough, this airgun is assembled by American workers in Crosman's manufacturing headquarters in Bloomfield, New York!
All of these features add up to a stocked airgun that’s going to give breakbarrel airgunners everything they could ask for!

10 of 22 Benjamin Mayhem SBD Nitro Piston NP2 Air Rifle Reviews
Very Powerful, the .177 pellets went through 1/2 plywood at 15 yds.
Things I Would Have ChangedScope mounts definitely. Trigger pull is very strong from the box. Had to replace the firing spring after 25 rounds ~ much better.
What Others Should KnowReceived by Benjamin Mayhem NP2 in .177 cal. Dec. 31st. Tried 25 rounds at 15 yds. with scope, mounts and ammo provided with the rifle. No good, could not get a reasonable grouping. Replaced the scope mounts with UTG picatinny mounts. Much better, moved the target back to 25 yds. Ten shot groups within 6" with an occasional flyer. Although I'd agree the scope is not the best, the ammo is definitely a problem. Currently using the Crosman Destroyer in 7.4 gr. that came with the rifle. Having shot over 100 pellets I've noticed the variance in size. A few actually didn't fit in the barrel. Some were loose and some tight.
Next up, I've ordered JSB Exact Match in 8.4 gr. Then I plan on testing H&N Field Target Trophy. After testing I'll post the results. Would love to hear what other shooters using this air rifle have experienced.
I like the sling mounts, nitro piston.
Things I Would Have Changednot at all what I expected kinda cheap looking
What Others Should KnowShot a variety of different weights 177 pellets and could not find any that it would be consistant with.. When I would get it zeroed in and let it set for a day it would never hold zero. My opinion is I wish I would've not got cheap and ordered proven pellet gun with great reviews right from the start..
The break barrel gas charged cylinder is a big improvement over the Gammo Whisper spring drive. The recoil is much more similar to a .22 rimfire. The firing sound is quieter and more like a "cap gun" than a break barrel Springer. Accuracy was good with the iron sights after the 250 shot break-in. I only shoot at 16 to 25 yards , but hitting 9mm brass hanging from string through the primer hole is very do-able at 16 yards.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe rear iron sights are mounted with two unseen screws "under" the rear sight. These were very loose from the factory. Better QC needed. No instructions showed/mentioned this mount. The 3-9 scope rings mount with TWO screws. I would prefer FOUR screws. Day to day shooting requires small adjustments.
What Others Should KnowI shot many thousands of pellets with the Gammo Whisper 177 . The Benjamin does require a stronger and a little longer pull distance. Your arm may tire sooner and effect your accuracy with multiple target shots...or not.
I like that the new trigger features. The trigger on the old Benjamin would need to be tone but not these new ones. I have already put 500 rd through it and the gun is doing great and very accurate.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would change the weight of the gun. It is not a light gun. The scope was no good right out of the box but that is what you would expect from a combo set. I swapped that scope out for a Nikon buckmaster and it works great.
What Others Should KnowBe ready for changing out the scope. I recommend this air gun to anyone. Very accurate for the price.
Great shooting rifle. Right out of the Case we had a skunk enter back yard, I have a new puppy, got puppy back in house and loaded my rifle. One shot and the skunk was history. It was about a 20 yard shot & no odor. I did have the scope mounted by Pyramyd, I sighted it in today and it wasnt far off. Beautiful gun!
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowMy first air gun and I really like the way it shoots.

Benjamin brung the pain with this one , excellent gun guys, trigger, silencer, its really all that.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe scope could stand an up grade, but you can still zero in with the one it comes with after break in,thats about it.
What Others Should KnowOnce you get it broken in you got a power rod, nuff said keep us shooting powerfully straight ,go crosman - Benjamin!!!
The looks and feel the gun are good. Shoots accurately at 40yds.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe price is high, for $40 more you can get a PCP Umarex gauntlet in .17 .22 or .25 so I got a .25 This gun is nice but nowhere near my .25
What Others Should KnowSave $40 more and go PCP
Unless you really want a break barrel this would be a good one.
The gun is quieter than other air gun of the past.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt kicks more than my 12 gauge shotgun.
What Others Should KnowI found the trigger to be hard to pull, heavy two stage trigger.

Power, 25 yds and still punching through 1/2 plywood using .177 pellets
Things I Would Have ChangedTrigger pull still strong even after changing trigger springs.
What Others Should Know2nd review: As I mentioned earlier, I shot 100 pellets using the ammo supplied with the rifle. At 25 yds, best I could do was 6" groups of 10 shots each. Not very good even after replacing scope mounts. Just finished shooting 5 10 shot groups using the Diabolo Exact 8.44 gr. Definitely a different. All 5 groups (except 1 - had a flyer) within 3". Next up is H&N FTT. I'll post after shooting.
