I have used these to dispatch pest insects in the basement

ease of use and they do clean well. I use these in springer air rifles. You have to be careful tho because they offer little resistance and even putting two or three at a time in the breech they can let your piston bottom out. I put one or two in the breech and use a cleaning rod with a plastic flat tip to push the through and they will clean better than a patch.

I don't think any thing about them should be changed.
