The original 4 Max proved to be all that we hoped for. But it was expensive and difficult to manufacture and deliver in a timely manner to meet customer demand. The 4 Max Scout is easier to produce and is a far more affordable alternative. It features an extra wide, drop point blade and stone wash finish, which is identical to the original 4 Max. It's crafted from 5mm thick AUS 10A steel, for strength, toughness and edge holding potential. The handle's silhouette mirrors the original. Instead of a G-10 handle the 4 Max Scout has one made of Griv-Ex with stainless steel liners and a Griv-Ex back spacer. Equipped with Andrew Demko's ground breaking Tri-Ad locking mechanism the 4 Max Scout has passed every one of our grueling shock and impact tests and then gone on to hold 600 lbs. of free hanging weight with no damage!

My favorite knife. Easy to carry, yet intimidating still. It's perfect for me.
It BIG and beautiful. It’s built like a tank. I love this knife. It has a thick heavy blade. Scales on the handle are pronounced and the handle feels really good in the hand. Love this knife!

A bit heavy for a folder, but perfectly balanced when deployed and in use. No problems carrying in the pocket provided that your pants are not too thin. Blade was sharp out of the box, ground evenly, and well centered. AUS-10A by Cold Steel is a well proven steel. The griv-ex handle texture is a bit rough (but helps with grip), with good contours (no hot spots at all) Lockbar detent was really tight (unlike the AD-10) but is getting better with use. Not a problem, I'll adjust that after breaking it in a bit. Overall, a good sized, hard use knife, with good workmanship, and well worth the price.

I starter a folding knife collection 2 years ago. I own only 1 fixed blade. In my collection some knifes are just piece of art. I wanted an indestructible knife and I made reserch on the net. So i decided to buy the 4 Max Scout and I am impressed. Everytime I take it in my hands, I am smiling. It's a brute. My collection will go to my grand-sons and I am sure they will be very happy of this one. It's fun to own knifes in Titanium, carbon or Damacus but if tomorrow will be Apocalypse, the one that I will bring, would be this one. Thank you Cold steel. I recommand without reserve
This knife is incredible. It’s like a small tank but it’s a huge for a knife. They say it’s about 4 inches the blade but the knife feels like like a 8 pound weight in your hand Lynn Thompson definitely knows what he’s doing. I give this knife five stars incredible The grip is like skater tape. It’s incredible the locking mechanism. I think it hold up a building very nice.
What a beater knife you could make shingles with it or carve up a moose with it.
