The Recon Hawk was designed by the famous custom knifemaker Andrew Demko. It features a single piece of super-tough carbon steel with a chopping blade on one side and a robust spike on the other. It includes a patented articulated sheath thats easy to attach or remove, and it provides protection from the hawks sharp edges. Plus, its perfectly balanced for throwing! It will stick into almost any target, and is indispensable for survival, escape and evasion, or just about any outdoor activity.

Light in the hand, razor sharp. Work out with the sheath on and take care of business with the sheath off. Handle is great and resists rolling or slips. Expertly made product - as are all of my Cold Steel products!
Very well balanced and sharp! Sticks every time. Bought these for my husband's birthday and he was impressed. Bought 3 for less walking to retrieve.
Demko hawk is inferior due to its hollow ground edge. Edge doesn't stick well when thrown at end grain target. Have a few nicks already also as hollow edge is more fragile. Shorter handle and balance point near center means you must throw this at target from 11 ft 6 inches Trench hawk is much better option for throwing as you can throw from 14 ft and it sticks every time.
This tomahawk came with a razor sharp hollow ground blade. Normally that would be great. But I bought it for throwing and the hollow ground doesn't stick as well as some of my other tomahawks from Cold steel. I could reprofile the blade and have it stick better but I don't know that I want to go through the effort.
. The Recon Hawk Axe has full Steel tang through the center with a hard durable handle the Blade has a great edge with a spike on other end. Solid Axe would recommend.
On tough tool with a great edge and a quality full tang design. So glad I purchased this axe. A great device from a great knife company!
