A great starter hunting rifle that's the best value in a multi-pump pneumatic. The Daisy 22 SG is a .22 caliber gun equipped with a 4x32mm scope on the 11mm dovetails. Although it has a wood stock/forearm and die-cast metal receiver, it's lightweight. Suitable for shooters 16 and older. Budding young shooters and hunters will enjoy hours of shooting because loading, pumping and cocking the rifle is quite easy. In fact, shooters of all ages will enjoy shooting targets, plinking and small rodents!
The 4x32mm scope has a duplex reticle, and it's fogproof and shock-resistant. If you prefer to use open sights, the airgun also comes with a TruGlo front sight and a fully adjustable rear sight. Power, accuracy and easy to use!

Wood stock. The heft and feel. Accurate and reasonably powerful.
Things I Would Have ChangedQuality control.
What Others Should KnowThis failed to hold air after pumping, within days of owning it. I could not hunt with it, as the hissing air and re-pumping is not very stealthy so it was of no use to me.
The nice, hefty feel in the hands. Accuracy. Power. The scope. It does feel like a rifle should, the little extra weight of the hardwood stock and metal receiver are not difficult to carry, but help stabilize the rifle for accurate shooting. The scope is clear, has a good reticle and adjustments. I like how the scope rings were already mounted to the scope at the proper places (for me) so all I had to do was mount it to the rifle and do a quick sight-in. The scope mounts are a little higher than standard, and this helps tremendously on feeding pellets into the chamber with my fingers. I can shoot 3/4" groups at 20 yards with this gun with even a poor rifle rest. Very accurate for me with RWS Superpoint Extra pellets. This rifle seems well made for the money, and has all the power I need.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt is difficult to get pellets to slide forward into the breach as the bolt is closed. I always have to point the gun downward and shake it until the pellet "falls" into the breach before closing the cocking bolt. It feels like there is some sort of lip or edge that tends to catch the pellet and prevent and easy slide forward.
What Others Should KnowOverall, I love this rifle. I chronograph a little over 540 feet per second velocity average, 12 inches from the muzzle. This is with 14.5 grain RWS Superpoint Extra pellets and the maximum 10 pumps. Not bad at all for a .22 air rifle, in my opinion.
Wood stock, easy to pump and very accurate. Variable power, 2 pumps for the pellet trap in the basement and full power available for outdoor use.
Things I Would Have ChangedReplace plastic parts with metal, especially the pump lever. Offer it without the scope.
What Others Should KnowThe receiver, bolt and pump lever are plastic. Pump this gun more than 7 times and you can see the pump lever flex.
I like the looks, feel and quietness of pumping. The wood really sets it apart from competitors in this price range. I have always stayed away from Daisy because it is generally assumed to be a low-level product but this gun was a pleasant surprise. Hard to find a .22 in a multi-pump.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing. Well worth the money.
This rifle is well made. Very accurate. Very eady to pump. Good looking. Nice plain wood stock with decent semigloss finish. Good crisp trigger althouth somewhat heavy. Not creepy betond a safe little margin. Shoots nearly as well as a PCP, But with the same charge pressure foe every same number of pumps. repeatable. It is light and handy, not an 8 pound boat anchor. Looks like a nice rifle, not like a plumbing contraption.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would offer it without the scope. Although for the price, I used the mounts on a BSA A/O SCOPE. The 4x "freebee" scope is nice, but you need a A/O scope to sight at shorter distances. I used the provided rings to mount a BSA A/O with target knobs. The scope rail works well, but I am hesitant to heavily tighten the scope mounts much, since the mount clamp wedges would bend the thin rail upward. In a bump, The rifle slid-dropped about a foot onto the rug, and the scope needed a 1/32" elevation shim after that.
What Others Should KnowI am routinely getting 1/2" Ct to Ct groups at 15 yards. I have "removed" 4 hole digging chipmunks so far at 50 feet. These are little targets to hit body high, head/or shoulders.
The plastic pump handle is just fine.
The Dasiy SG is VERY ACCURATE with the following:
RWS Meister Kuglen 14.0 Superb.
RWS Super H Point 14.2 Superb
(chipmnuks instantly XXX)
I expect the same with RWS Pointed pellets due to similar skirt design.
NOTICE: CROSSMAN PREMIER ULTRA MAGNUM Domed Pellets 14.3 are VERY VERY BAD in the 22 SG.
Yes, they start to group nice, then a Flyer, and back to the group. They are one big collection of fyers and finger dirty by way of graphite. They shoot a shotgun pattern from an SG.
Do not kid yourself, the tinned 500 for 8 bucks CP domes are not the $22 boxed variety with the DIE NUMBER that pellets all in the box were swaged on, and are thus uniform.
A .22 pellet should approach .218" in diameter. The canned CP's mic'd on my Starret digital fom .21355" to .21740" about 45 pellets in the tin were obviously undesized. But even after some sorting, I still had a good number of flyers in the groups. I have thrown out the Tinned CPs. CPs might work fine in a tight or choked barrel.
THIS IS A GREAT RIFLE you will spend HUNDREDS more and have to get a heavy 8 1/2 pounder, and less ready gun before you will improve on Daisy 22 SG overall value, handiness, power to do a real job, and accuracy that will challenge many.
Do clean it.

Gun looks nice.
Things I Would Have ChangedCan not get the gun sighted in. I've put 3 different scopes on it with no look.
What Others Should KnowI could not suggest anyone buying this gun, I would go up on quility.
Looks nice. Not too heavy.
Things I Would Have ChangedDon't send the scope with it because even though the scope is nice the guns scope rail is so crooked that when you put the scope on it's visibly not even close to lining up with the barel. The scope did fit just fine on another pellet gun we have so it has to be the gun. Also the gun is metal where it does need to be and plastic in parts that should be metal, like the pump and the cocking mechanism.
What Others Should KnowAfter around 75 shots it quit working and now has to go back to Daisy for repair. The trigger clicks but it won't let the air out so the pellet just stays in the gun.
I have alway had a Benjamin Sheridan and NEVER had a problem in over 30 years; it was my fault for gpoing cheap on this Daisy. We'll probably have to throw this one in the trash. We'll see if Daisy stands behind their product.
Awesome rifle. I don't even use the scope and i ping targets across the yard. the customer service at pyramyd is AMAZING. they gained a repeat customer.
Things I Would Have Changedplastic handle worries me, it feels flimsy at times. this would rock as a repeater.
The trigger pull, weight, wood. rifle easy to handle. Bought it for light pest control works great for a rifle under $100.
Things I Would Have ChangedI put a Bug Buster scope on this rifle and the varmits didn't have a chance.
What Others Should KnowKinda small for an adult, but my kids can easily learn from this rifle. You'll get use to loading the pellets after a while. Crosman pointed work great.

Vary accurate, and surprisingly powerful. Mine will hold half inch groups at 50 yards with out difficulty, and it will produce greater than 620FPS at 10 pumps with 14.3 grain Crosman Premier Hollow Point pellets. This is with out question the best of my .22 cal pumpers (and I have a few).
Things I Would Have ChangedThe bolt securing the stock is difficult to get at, this can be an issue for maintenance. Also please bring back this great rifle. Or any of its variants (the 22X for example).
What Others Should KnowThe Daisy 22SG can be a bit more pellet picky than some other pumpers. Feed it heavier pellets for the best results. Also be careful when mounting a scope, do to the way the receiver rail is it is easy to accidentally partially separate the receiver.
