10 of 59 Desert Eagle CO2 Pistol Reviews
This item turned out to be a real surprise. I own 25 CO2 air pistols and generally buy based on the advertised specs. In many cases I have been disappointed with performance. I have generally found that the advertised velocity of CO2 pistols is not the average velocity but turns out to be the high velocity. Not this time. The Magnum Research Desert Eagle delivers as advertised. Having just put four clips through the DE, here are my Chrony results: Pros: Exceeds velocity specs, very powerfull shooter. High accuracy. I like the CO2 chamber screw seal. I normally have trouble getting this type of screw cap started but this one is level and starts threading easily. Kudos to the designer.
Things I Would Have ChangedCons: The only compaint I have is that the front sight is too slim. I like a front sight that fills the rear sight notch.
What Others Should KnowMy Chrony tests showed better than advertised performance: Advertised Velocity: 426 fps. I was using Crossman 7.4 grain Wadcutter Pellets.
High Velocity: 458.5 fps
Low Velocity: 421.1 fps
Median Velocity: 438.0 fps
Mean Velocity: 436.89 fps
Range: 37.4
Standard Deviation: 10.69
All shots out of four magazines used in testing registered over the 400 fps velocity mark - even to the last pellet in the 4th clip used. The advertised high accuracy also proved to be true. I was able to put a 3/4 inch hole in a 1 inch target center after 32 shots. 12 shots registered in the 2-1/2 inch black amd 20 shots registered in the 1 inch center bullseye. No discernable cracks in the blowback slider. Cracks have been reported by others but none were detected by me. The plastic construction does not degrade performance and enjoyment in any way for me. This is a quality item. If you enjoy CO2 shooting, the Desert Eagle delivers. Rating A+++++ 5 Stars.
I had to put off buying one for a long time thanks to Michigan, but things changed and a whole new world of airguns was open to me. But even then I resisted the Desert Eagle because I normally don't like plastic guns. But I just got one today. So I am passing judgement on it. The gun is big. I have big hands which it really does fill up. If you have small Donald Trump hands this might be a bit too much to hold. It has a nice heft to it, trigger is a bit creepy but it's light. It hakes several inches of pulling on that trigger to get to where it needs to be to fire. The recoil is there but nowhere near what the real one does. That's good since it keeps you on target instead of jumping into your face. Overall it feels pretty good in my hand and I'm pleased.
Things I Would Have ChangedMaybe make the slide metal so it would be more sturdy. I don't think I'll break it but you never know. Also a white dot on the front sight would a nice touch so the front sight is a bit more visible when shooting.

Things I Would Have ChangedFull Metal and Plastic not to look "made in china"
What Others Should Knowbetter guns
Big; powerful pistol with strong blowback. Accurate and uses easy to reload Umarex 8 round metal mags. Tons of fun!
Things I Would Have ChangedMake it easier to change Co2 powerlets while keeping realistic appearance.

This replica gun is the real mccoy (no pun intended). It is quality made in every respect. Accuracy is great, especially equipped with the inexpensive Umarex red dot laser. I'm not a recently practiced or accomplished shooter, though I own and have shot several S&W revolvers in the past. Age and health issues have left me with weakened and shakey hands and this is a heavy gun, but my first attempt with 38 rounds yielded essentially a 4 in. group at 20 ft. with two stray outer target hits as the CO2 was depleted. Bottom line, this gun provides a realistic shooting experience.
Things I Would Have ChangedI think everyone knows this and similar guns use the CO2 a an increased rate, but for my money it's worth it for the blowback feature. Would be great if the molded in only, non-functional controls were actually moveable, not just molded in. This would increase cost of course, and is a really picky issue.
What Others Should KnowMy experience in buying this my first replica gun, led to confusion such that I originally unwittingly purchased the BB model from another dealer, who did not adequately describe the item. That version of the Desert Eagle is made in Taiwan, not Germany, is less accurate, has no windage adjustment on the rear sight, and has that ugly orange muzzle. Quality seemed OK, but wasn' t the gun I wanted.
Very realistic, fun to shoot and very accurate. I don't have a chronograph, but I can tell by how far the pellet penetrates into the pellet trap duct seal, that it is approaching 500 FPS. I have a laser sight mounted on it and it is pin point accurate.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowAs some of the other reviews have stated, you only get around 24 shots (3 magazines) per CO2 cylinder. That's OK with me because the shots you get are high quality, powerful and accurate.
Accuracy , power, blowback , accessory rails.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe slide should be changed to metal.
What Others Should KnowI broke three slides and finally asked for a refund.
Umarex told me I was abusing the gun by changing CO2 cartridges after only sixteen shots. Buy the Gamo PT-85 Socom and put your own accessories on it. Gun has metal slide!
This is in my opinion THE GREATEST CO2 blow back action hand gun on the market.Unfortunately it took a while to gather the correct info on it .I called Umarex twice and they could't tell me if the blowback action re-cocks the gun. It does! See Paul Capello's Video! Construction is excellent even though it's not a metal housing.Glock is same way.
Things I Would Have ChangedIf Umarex can't provide info on what they make they should give the patent to somebody that can. Their customer service is lame!
What Others Should KnowBuy this gun and put a BSA pistol scope with offset UTG weaver mounts on it.It shoots grate with H&N Match Pistol pellets. I can hit cans on a rail fence at 75ft using a shooting bench and pistol rest! Also buy lots of CO2 cartridges. Max velocity on first shots is 458 fps!
This is a very accurate gun up to 40 feet it is good for small pest control like birds and squirrels. I have owned one for some time and I never get board with it!!!
Things I Would Have ChangedMake the gun be able to shoot more rounds per c02
What Others Should KnowThere is a lot of plastic in this gun, that is for sure something you should consider when buying this gun.

This thing is a BEAST! Even though it's poly it's got some serious heft to it and, at least to me, it doesn't look like a cheap toy. The grip is best suited for an NBA player but I managed to get my average sized paws around it well enough to squeeze the trigger comfortably. At 21 feet it hit the target like a hammer. I was completely taken aback by the force this gun has.
Things I Would Have ChangedHonestly there's very little. Of course I'd like an all metal version, or one where the slide locks back after the last round - the usual. Truth be told, I'd be thrilled if it simply held a few more rounds as I find I spend nearly as much time loading as shooting and 8 rounds go fast.
What Others Should KnowI can't comment on accuracy with the integral sights as I slapped a laser on my gun the minute I felt how heavy it was. It dialed in quickly and became an instant favorite. One tidbit though, make sure you tighten the CO2 screw all the way. I stopped immediately upon feeling back pressure and failed to pierce the cartridge. An extra turn and a half and all was well.
