Feel and function is almost EXACTLY like a 1911 (it's almost spooky). Weight, thumb safety, trigger pull, racking the slide ... all the same. My laser sight after-market accessory fits nicely on the little rail.
Things I would have changed:1. Loading BBs into the drop-out magazine is a royal pain. Somebody needs to redesign this. We are told that the magazine holds 18; I can't get more than ten into the magazine before my fingernails start to bleed. 2. The CO2 cartridge is carried in the dropout magazine itself. Somehow, though, this works. 3. You need a separate wrench (it doesn't stow anywhere in the gun) to install the CO2 cartridge. I've always thought this was a bad idea. 4. Accuracy is just ordinary.

blowback or not? Description says blowback but 1 review says the box says non blowback.
Does not have blow back feature.
will real 1911 grips fit?
Does this have a painted finish or is it an anodize? Is the metal stainless?
The finish is painted. It seems fine on most of the gun but mine began to wear off the face of the hammer almost immediately. I took mine apart to see how it worked and the metal is definitely cast and not steel. It doesn't seem to be aluminum either. The 3rd most common metal used for firearms and airguns is zinc alloy, which I believe this gun to be. Probably zamak 3 alloy. There is an insert that's metal and holds most of the mechanical parts. It also has the slide rails. It's has a black finish to it that's much more robust than the paint. I can't tell what metal it is due to this finish. It looks to be cast, but may be steel.
