Things I liked: The old Air Venturi Quiet Trap stood a little higher and the standard two blocks of duct seal was simply insufficient to fill centerline and top edge gaps. Pellets just ended up piercing the backside wood. While the smaller new trap is easier to fill the gaps by kneading the duct seal, the steel backstop is just plain good insurance against pellets breaking the rear wood. The backstop fits perfectly and doesn't add significant weight. Works as advertised.
Things I would have changed: PA should just sell all the traps with the backstop. Stop selling the version without the backstop steel. If you do a search on the website it's easy to find the trap without the backstop and many shooters don't know the backstop is available. I didn't, and had to place an additional order after I found it as an accessory.
