20X 1/2 Mil Dot Reticle:
The Hawke Sidewinder riflescope is designed for extreme shooting, and has amazing clarity with its 18 layer, fully multi-coated glass. The 30mm scope offers high resolution viewing and a bright sharp picture in all lighting conditions. The lens configurations have been carefully selected to offer the optimum performance in low light conditions, while offering excellent range finding properties.
If you like clear, sharp, crisp images when you look through your scope, then mount this scope on your rifle. Hawke has a reputation for producing superior scopes, and their Sidewinder models deliver some of the best pictures you'll ever see through an optical device. While all scopes give you a picture, the Sidewinder will deliver one that will help you shoot better because you'll be able to distinguish even the smallest details when you home in on your target. Be forewarnedonce you use this scope, all your other scopes will suddenly disappoint you.
From its superior glass to the etched glass SR Pro illuminated reticle, youll be on your target right away. And because of the robust build of your Hawke scope, you can use it on any firearm or airgun even those with heavy recoil.
The Sidewinder features a side focusing system designed to Parallax from 10 yds to Infinity. The open Sniper-style turrets are calibrated to 1/4 MOA per click. The reticle illumination brightness adjustment is positioned on the side focus turret. This allows 5 Red and 5 Green settings. The settings have been carefully considered to produce low enough illumination levels for dawn and dusk shooting. If you prefer the solid black reticle, simply turn off the illumination.
The fully multi-coated lenses are waterproof, shockproof, and nitrogen filled for the best possible light transmission.
This scope comes equipped with a 2 side wheel to enhance range finding, a sunshade for bright conditions, and screw-in lens covers to protect the outer lenses.

Things I liked: Built sturdy, clicks are tight and crisp. Nice clear glass. Great range of lighting levels for the illuminated reticle. Excellent quality scope.
Things I would have changed: The side wheel uses a rubber interface with the side focus knob. This rubber piece does not hold securely to the focus knob on the scope I have and allows the side wheel to turn without adjusting the focus knob. I would change the side wheel to a grub screw attachment instead of friction fit with rubber.
What others should know: Hawke makes GREAT optics for airgunning. I 100% recommend this scope. If you are buying or already own an air rifle that is capable of outstanding accuracy, do not cheat yourself of being able to see the full potential of it by buying a less than adequate scope.
Things I liked: Very solid airgunner scope; most guns will not need a better one. The design is flawless, the look is unmatched, the screw on caps are superb. Low .6" rings give enough clearance on my Royale. 20x reticle is large; very useful for airguns.
Things I would have changed: I would prefer more points on the reticle for windage holds.
What others should know: Hawke has excellent c.s. should you need to warranty your scope; great to work with! Sure the scope costs a good hunk of change but once you have one you have it for life.
Things I liked: Quality and finish are superb. Very easy to adjust and setup
Things I would have changed: The reticle is mil-dot, but the turret adjustments are MOA. Increase the thickness of the crosshairs, Very difficult to see after numerous focusing attempts

What mount on a HW97?
0 MM hifh rings. Either a 1 or 2 piece mount. Both will have a scope stop peg to anchor the ring.
When I zoom in on this optic, is 1 mildot still a true mildot? Or will it be different?
The actual distance between the marks will change with magnification in 2nd focal plane scopes. In most scopes the true mildot will be at 10X.
The reticle, which focal plane? Looks like 1st?
The scope is a 2nd focal plane scope.
