Ataman M2R Tactical Carbine Type 1 Air Rifle, Walnut
Ataman is well-known for high quality, exceptional reliability and cutting-edge technologies. A combination of state-of-the-art production, superior materials, and the legendary expertise of Russian gunsmiths stand behind every Ataman rifle. Craftsmanship and excellence is evident in every aspect of this compact rifle from its shrouded Lothar Walther barrel and ergonomic walnut stock, to the adjustable trigger, adjustable cheekpiece, and lightweight versatility.
The Ataman M2R Tactical Carbine Type 1 Air Rifle features a stunning 4,350 psi (300 BAR) fill pressure, resulting in more shooting time between fills. The adjustable cheekpiece enables the shooter to set up to fit them perfectly. The stock offers easy shooting for right- and left-handed shooters.
In .22 caliber this attractive rifle offers 38 ft. lbs. of energy and up to 45 accurate shots per fill, while the .25 caliber version delivers 55 fpe and 35 shots. In .30 caliber, you'll get 20 regulated shots per fill with 95.8 fpe. The .357 caliber option sends up to 11 pellets flying at a stunning 144 ft. lbs. of power. With this lightweight and powerful rifle, you get even more time in the field hunting.
The lockwork trigger mechanism is a two way adjustable, match-grade trigger, which allows the shooter complete freedom to set it up to their liking. The gun also sports a pressure regulator for ultimate shot-to-shot consistency. Whether you fill the aircraft grade aluminum cylinder to 4350 psi/300 BAR or to a lower pressure of your choice, the regulator ensures that the Ataman will make the best use of the available air supply.

This rifle came in at a good price point, and it would have been a nice addition to my air gun collection, if it were not quite so heavy. I've ordered the Bullpup version so that my grip will be steady when standing and firing. I like that this M2R model is a higher pressure-regulated air rifle that shoots heavy pellets in a very flat trajectory path.
Things I would have changed:Since I never fired it, I wouldn't know. Visual inspection shows the stock to be smooth but unfinished, so the new owner can finish the stock in a preferred stain color and/or varnish. As for accuracy, the video clips on YouTube show the phenomenal performance of these air rifles. My rating for accuracy comes from being amazed by the capabilities demonstrated on YouTube. These PCP rifles have a renowned reputation for being extremely accurate, and I look forward to obliterating the old 1.5 inch spinner set out at 75 yards, that I used to use to lob a string of .22 cal pellets at from a tuned Career II 707 scoped rifle, back in the late 1900's (when a general production 300 BAR air-charge rifle was only dreamed about).
What others should know:The newer high-pressure big bore air rifles are amazing in their ability to start to compare favorably with real firearms. This rifle seems to be in that category. It is not semi-automatic, but the lever action is similar to that of a bolt action firearm, and projectile trajectory is also similar to that of a lower caliber firearm using subsonic ammo for enhanced accuracy. Unlike a firearm, this rifle does not have to be cleaned after every use, there is no irritating gun smoke, and the muzzle loudness is already muffled by a shrouded barrel, that can possibly be legally quieted even further (in some states, where the use of such additional hearing protection is neither banned or nor specifically prohibitory by statute). Most importantly, accuracy is also comparable to that of a firearm, due to the quality of the product. I look forward to receiving my backordered Bullpup version in the near future, with pleasant anticipation and a bit of trepidation. Truly, "THIS IS NOT A TOY!.

This is a very high quality, well engineered rifle that is built like a tank. It is extremely powerful and equally as accurate. Groups at 50 yards can be covered with a quarter, using JSB 81gn ammo. I love the stock on this gun! Its a beautiful and incredibly functional design. Love the bag cutout, adjustable cheek and pad.. The long, flat forestock is perfect on a sandbag and for mounting a pic rail and bipod. Very nice walnut. The 7 round mag is a masterpiece. The sound and feel of cycling the action screams quality. The trigger takes getting used to, but is light and precise. I bought this as a stealth / precision deer rifle and it did not disappoint!
Things I would have changed:I cant stand when gauges on any gun are front mounted. No one should have to point a gun at themselves to read pressure. Slugs (not pellets) fall out of the magazine. I got around it by having Lucky Seven Air Ammo design a 93gn slug the retention ring (o-ring) can grab onto. The slug is flawless, but stick with pellets for anything smaller than deer. This gun is LOUD. Its a long to begin with, and with a suppressor, its too long to use in a small blind. The bull pup version is better suited for tight quarters, but not as pretty. Just my opinion. The incredible, beefy stock and overbuilt quality make this gun heavy. Buy a sling for all day carry. The trigger has only one stage. You get used to it, but Id much prefer a crisp 2 stage. Nitpicking by an Airgun snob.
What others should know:This is a rock solid, extremely high quality rifle. I have owned dozens of high end Airguns over decades, and this rifle excites me just looking at it. Its a joy to shoot and an absolute beast. It is not a big bore air rifle, but is at the extreme end of pellet gun performance. 150 FPE - Ft Lbs Energy is almost 20x more than the pellet guns anyone in their middle age grew up with. This gun is built for hunting, but is a blast to shoot silhouettes and other reactive targets with. Not a gun for everyone, but if you like nice things and are into Airguns, you will not be disappointed.
