Just when you thought slingshots have come as far as they can, a Kennesaw, Georgia company has shattered everything you thought you knew about them by way of a revolutionary design.
Meet the Pocket Shot: a CNC-milled, circular slingshot that uses a latex pouch to sling projectiles downrange at velocities of up to 350 fps. It shoots everything from 1/4- to 5/16-inch slugs and marbles to small paintballs, airsoft BBs and even arrows! When not in use, it measures a diminutive 2.3” x 1.3” and can fit easily in a pocket, backpack or tackle box.
While most people’s idea of a slingshot involves a Y-shaped frame two elastic bands and a patch of fabric or leather in which to seat the projectile, this slingshot is composed of a latex projectile pouch, a hollow base ring and a hollow locking ring. The open end of the latex pouch is sealed tightly between the base and locking rings. The projectile(s) is/are loaded into the pouch. The shooter pulls the pouch back, just like with a standard slingshot, and the resulting tension powers the projectile when the pouch is released.
Each Pocket Shot comes with two pouches: one black standard pouch made of thinner latex that is easier to pull, and one blue pro pouch made of thicker latex for higher velocities.

Easy to carry and shoot -- sort of. Also easy to shoot oneself in the hand when learning to use this rascal. Once you've gotten that down, though, and healed the bruises, it's a nice, well-thought-out little device and reasonably accurate. It takes some getting used to, but it's a good addition to a survival pack. I like it!
Things I would have changed:Supply a protective hand pad so the learning curve in teaching oneself to shoot is somewhat less painful.
What others should know:I like it, but be prepared to holler, "ouch!" a time or two. ;-)
