Description
The Umarex .177 Cal MarkPoint is an affordable single-shot air pistol that delivers unlimited shooting fun. It has an easy-to-operate break-action design that doesn't need expensive equipment or air compressors. Simply push down on the barrel with one hand and hold the body with the other. Opening it serves the dual purpose of priming the spring piston and allowing the operator to load a pellet. It boasts a rifled metal barrel for stabilization and is good for about 395 FPS with alloy pellets (300 FPS with lead).
The Umarex MarkPoint flaunts many features like a comfortable molded grip, integrated backstrap safety, and manual safety. Keeping pellets on target is a pair of open sights with a long sight radius and a single action trigger. It makes a great gift for hours of plinking fun, just don't forget the pellets.

I am an avid airgun collector. Seeing this new Umerex I had to add it to my collection...It is lightweight but, very well built...Cooking and loading are easy...The back strap safety is a great addition...As with all guns, firearm or airgun, accuracy comes with practice...Knowing the gun and what pellets work best is trial and error...My MarkPoint shot best with SigSauer match pellets at 395 fps...It shot better with the Gamo alloy at 500fps..It is powerful for an inexpensive break barrel pistol...
Things I Would Have ChangedIn front of rear sight having the ability to add rail for red dot sight would be a good addition however, at this price for a well built airgun, I can live without it...
What Others Should KnowRead the Instructions...Too many times reading some of the comments, people take the gun out of the box or clampak and try to shoot...Then complain about accuracy, it isn't working properly, it was broken when I got it...I have ordered numerous airguns, here, there and everywhere and when ordering new all have functioned as they should...Lucky I guess...Maintain and oil...My rule of thumb is, " if it moves, oil it"...The MarkPoint has specific joints to oil using a good quality airgun oil...Remember, accuracy does not come in the box...It's up to you...

Very easy to cock, better than advertised velocity, decent accuracy, the price.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe pistol grip is too large and not very ergonomic, it feels uncomfortable in the hand, this is mostly alleviated with a two hand hold, just don't plan on shooting it one handed. I take a large sized glove and the grip feels too big, but manageable, if you have smaller hands, this could be a real issue. The trigger pull is quite long and very stiff, it did seem to get a little better after several shots, so maybe it will improve over time, but I wouldn't count on it.
What Others Should KnowOverall I like it, I got this to just plink at some cans in the backyard and should be fine for that. The sights are fixed and mine shot around 2 inches low at 20ft and 2.5 inches low at 30ft. On the plus side the windage was pretty much dead on, so I don't have to compensate for two adjustments and I find it easier to adjust for elevation. The front sight is plastic and tall enough that it could be filed down to correct for the elevation. I was surprised at the velocity, I was getting around 307 fps with Crosman 7.9gr hollow points and 350 fps with 7.0gr RWS Diablo Basic. The accuracy was good. Off hand at 20ft I could easily cover the group with a quarter. It was slightly louder than I expected, but still backyard friendly. If you have small hands or can't tolerate a stiff trigger, you might want to pass, but given the price, power and accuracy it makes for a good backyard plinking pistol.
