Crosman Classic 1911 Pistol Kit

Almost impossible to rack the slide/cock. Even for its price point

The pistol looks "neat", and that is about all I can say good for it.

I am the "Paul from USA" who commented twice on 2021-06-26 about my experience after receiving this gun. I read the reviews before buying it, and the reviews by Lance and Taylor were discouraging. But I went ahead and placed my order to buy one on the strength of the review by RetroAim. I am happy for RetroAim that he has had good success and has fired a couple thousand rounds with his pistol. I have not yet been able to successfully fire 3 shots in a row because of the misfeeds and jams. I am not giving up yet, so I am doing a lot more online research for reviews of this pistol and looking for a fix, but have not found one yet. The experience of Lance and Taylor has been my experience also. I have not yet been able to fire 25 shots in about 15 attempts. BBs misfeeding, rolling out the barrel, jamming the trigger, etc. are very frustrating. My last hope is to contact Crosman Customer Service, but customers of Pyramyd Air need to be aware of these problems.

After several reviews I found, it appears that the Crosman 1911 Classic Spring BB Pistol and the Bear River 1911 Spring powered BB Pistol Kit are being confused as the same product. Bear River 1911 is apparently available at Walmart for under $20 and performs much better than the Crosman Kit.
My advice is to do your homework before the purchase, even when only spending $30 or $40.

Instructions for use: 1) load properly. 2) rack slide to cock. 3) pull trigger to see nothing come out of barrel. 4) repeat steps 1 thru 3. 5) remove magazine to observe loose bbs fall out. 6) repeat steps 1 thru 5 until trigger jams from likely loose bb. 7) attempt unsuccessfully to call Pyramyd multiple times. 8) throw in trash.

Looks great. Grips give great purchase. Functional safety in the same place as a real 1911. Surprisingly accurate for a springer BB pistol (caveats below). Crisp trigger, much better than the weird mushy trigger of the Crosman PSM45. Better accuracy too, will usually group within 1-1/2" at 15 feet. Nice to have a non-airsoft gun for casual plinking without using up CO2 cartridges.

The bbs that came with it, I believe, are junk. Much better results are obtained using "normal" bbs. In my shooting the Daisy Premium bbs and Hornady Black bbs work well. The trigger, while it breaks cleanly, is fairly heavy. The cocking effort is also fairly heavy. Shouldn't be a problem for most adults, but may be too much for pre-teens. The gel target works okay at 15 feet, but the bbs don't stick to the surface long enough for scoring. It does work really well with airsoft guns, though.

Other reviewers mentioned jams and bbs that just "spit" out of the gun. I had the same problems at first. These problems went away after two things: I used up the "mystery" bbs that came with it, and I made sure that the slide moved all the way forward after cocking it. It was a little sticky at first. A couple thousand shots later and this is now my favorite basement plinker. Three other things: one, the light weight of this all-plastic gun, in combination with the clean but stiff trigger, means you really have to concentrate on your trigger press to get good results. Two, the fixed sights were way off, about 3" low and1-1/2" left at fifteen feet. Was able to correct it by filing some material off the top and right side of the front sight. Three, the manual's a little vague, so: to load this you fill the magazine with loose BBs through a small sliding door. Then you lock the magazine follower down and shake the magazine until you see BBs in the feed column, then release the follower.

The concept is great..I really like to shoot in my garage and by descrition this was a perfect pistol. spring load with multiple shot bb's.

Magazine concept is great but cheap plastic and bb's spill out --multiple bb's in chamber..jambs and just lousy performance. Crosman should have put in $10 worth of better quality parts and they would have a nice shootable product.

This product is a piece of cheap plastic crap and does not function as it should. Crosman should be ashamed to market this product and Pyramid should embarrassed to sell it.

Pistol looks cool,very authentic. Great color, Target is a great supplement to this product and could be used with other bb guns. Great idea with reserve bb's in handle magazine.

I don't like the loading system, it's very fiddly and not accurate. Not all possible bb's load easily into the mag for shooting.

Instead of discharging the bb it sometimes just "spits" them out, or the bb is trapped inside the handle. I don't know if this will improve over time once the pistol is broken in.

Lightweight and low cost. Looks very nice.

The trigger is extremely stiff. Once you squeeze you're already jolting off target. The cheap plastic breaks quite easily just from loading the spring (cocking the gun) so be careful. While it's a low-cost gun, it's difficult to cock the spring back.

The mag it comes with is interesting. You can preload more than the amount in the spring rail from a hidden door in the back. Just pop out the mag, pull and lock the spring and give it a few shakes and it reloads itself. Not a bad feature.

Good deal for the money.
