Description

If you like to shoot spinners or do some casual target shooting, the LP8 is perfect. Repeatable accuracy!

The box states this has a 9.125" barrel. It does not. It has a 7" barrel.

  • RWS Diana LP8 Magnum pistol
  • Spring-piston
  • Breakbarrel
  • Single-shot
  • Ambidextrous grip & operation
  • Fiber optic sights (adj. rear)
  • Muzzlebrake for greater cocking leverage
  • 11mm scope rail
  • 700 FPS (alloy pellets), 580 FPS (lead pellets)

The box states this gun delivers 700 fps. Airgun writer Tom Gaylord tested this gun for the Pyramyd AIR blog and got 755 fps when using extremly lightweight alloy (lead-free, 4.0 grains) pellets. If you use lightweight lead pellets (7.0 grains), your velocity will be around 560 to 580 fps. He found that Gamo Match pellets (7.56 grains) delivered the best accuracy when shooting the pistol from a rested position.

Easy to cock and load with solid lock up action. Hole in hole accuracy ... if you're capable. Heavy, so a bit difficult to shoot free hand. I have bad shoulders, might not be an issue to average user. Super accurate from bench or rested. Have fired many different pellets from this and find it not to pellet picky. Currently use Excite Econ II pellets (very inexpensive) and accurate at 10 meters.

Bad trigger out of the box ... trigger creep and excessive crunch. Also has heavy trigger pull. Had this thing apart several times polishing parts and removed 2 loops from spring to reduce trigger pull. After I did the work, the trigger has an acceptable release. For the price a better trigger assembly should have been incorporated into this gun. If the LP8 had a better trigger out of the box, I would have given it 5 stars overall. If you're not comfortable with taking it apart and polishing trigger parts, then I would reduce my rating to 3 stars.

Overall, I am happy with the LP8. I have a range in my basement and shoot daily. I fire my LP8 more than any other gun I own. So far, I have around 4000 rounds out of it without any problems. The cocking and loading are so easy that I take it down to the basement with the intention of firing 25 rounds and usually fire 50 to 100.

I actually had to return the first one for pellet seating issues. I could not get a pellet to seat all - any pellet. As usual returning something to Pyramid Air was very fast and trouble-free and I was pretty happy that I would get a a decent gun. The gun seems to be well built well-balanced and has very good accuracy potential however the non-seating pellet gets damaged upon Barrel closing so who knows how accurate the gun can be.

Somebody at Diana should probably do a little bit of a QC and their guns. Things I would change would be having the people at Pyramid actually inspect the gun for the problem that it was returned for, not just take a box off the shelf and see that it shoots. The second gun arrived with lead shavings in and around the end of the barrel and Barrel seal. Which means the gun had the same problem which also means they didn't even inspect that as a problem which was the complaint of the first gun.

I received two separate guns and both had the same issue. No pellet wood seat flush with the back of the barrel no matter how hard tried with my thumb. If it's going to be a requirement of this gun to use some kind of seating tool that should be sent with the gun. But I don't think that's the problem. Needless to say I returned even the second gun because it was a lot of fun I thought but I'm not spending that kind of money on a German product that doesn't take the time to inspect chamber size. Diana is probably now very suspect as a purchasing option. And I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in Pyramid Air. It did not bother checking the problem that the gun was sent in for upon inspection. Oh and by the way I called airgun Depot afterwards to see if I could get them to send me a gun that they would inspect properly and much to my surprise and Chagrin the same lady that took my first complaint call at Pyramid was the lady at airgun Depot. They are sister companies. I did not know.

Steve: Sorry to hear of your experience with a Diana product. This is not an unusual thing because the tolerances are held pretty tight, in the main. I've had this before and use a conical stone on my Dremel and patiently and slowly increase the chamfer on the breech. It is a careful task of small touches and repeated checking of one's progress. One does NOT was to go too far as it is a one-way trip. I usually use my trusty Beeman Pellset Tool that is old enough to vote. RAW, down in Tennessee, makes a clone of the Beeman Pellset tool on a nice lanyard, BTW. I usually set my pellets with a subtle "click" indicating that the skirt has entered the breech. The issue seems to be that the chamfer isn't ground big enough to allow the skirts to enter the breech bore. The conical stone, the axis of which one seeks to center in the axis of the bore, does the trick. Again, a wee bit at a time; one does NOT want to overdo the job. Also, use a conical stone NOT a round one.

Ease of, enjoyment of shooting targets, great way to enjoy an afternoon

Needs better quality control. Mine arrive with a spring off causing the trigger to stick. While it wasn't difficult to repair it shouldn't have required repairing.

Order did arrive on time

the gun looks good and feels comfortable when shooting. It isn't difficult to cock, and I like the trigget pull.

I shoot at 4 inch circular targets on a 18" x 24" sheet of art paper and each target is devided into smaller circles (4", 3", 2" and 1" bull's eye). The 1st two shots at the target (at 30 feet, off of a rest) did not even hit the paper. I turned the height adjustment 4 clicks and fired two more rounds, hitting the paper 7" below and 1" left of the bulls eye. I continued firing pellets and making adjustments until I could no longer adjust the elevation adjustments. While I was able to get my groups down to 1/4", the best I could do was 3 & 1/2" low of the 1 inch bulls eye. I understand that Most if not all customers who purchased the Diana pistol were very happy with it and that is why I have returned it for a replacement. Hopfully, my next Diana will make me as happy as most of the other purchasers.

Customer Service was GREAT, as usual. After explaining my problems, they provided me with an authorization return number and a shipping label.

Well made, easy to shoot and quite accurate.

Although sights are good, range of sights is not.

Rear sight will not go up enough or front sight to high, to sight in. Barrel droop.

Im just getting into air guns so learning as i go. I have a Gamo vigilante, Gamo p85 pistol, Umarex Trevox pistol, Bengi vaporizer 177 rifle and now this gun. Mid 500s using 7.6 gram pellets.. got some power for a pistol.

Lighter would be nice. Not a easy gun to site in because of its weight.

Im still learning but the lp8 is a spring gun. Even my cheaper Trevox is gas charged. Lighten it up some and make a gen 2 with a gas piston .. this gun would be a beast.

My buddy has this if you enjoy this grabumerex trevox I have multiple break barrel including the Benjamin Trailmaster rated the same as this and power and I believe the Trailmaster is more ergonomic and Powerful in my opinion maybe my hands are too small I don't know but for the price it's a blast and you can lug it around anywhere and not have to worry about tearing up your investment that you made on this one I promise you you won't be disappointed
