The barrel is excellent. The service from Pyramid air, is as usual, excellent. My R7 is an older model in caliber 5mm ( with safety ). The barrel change went easy, ..after I figured out what I needed to do. You will need a set of screwdrivers, a hammer, a good 16 penny common nail, and some motor oil ( to lube the joints). If anybody buys one of these barrels, be sure to put the gun on a work bench, with a blue, or pink blanket under, so to catch any stray parts. The pin under the barrel ( which holds the linkage ) needs to be driven out, by placing the gun down, on it's right side. The barrel change took about 30 minutes, and most of that was figuring what I needed to do. ........ The difference between the 5mm, and the .177 is night and day. The .177 shoots much flatter, and it's just as accurate ( or better ). ......I am really happy that I bought this part.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe new barrel in caliber .177, is about 1.25 inches shorter than my old 5mm barrel. I am not sure why. I do wish both the new barrel was the same length as the old barrel. Overall, I am still very , very happy with my purchase.
What Others Should KnowWhen you do the barrel change, there is a little nut inside the trigger assembly .. which holds the rear trigger guard screw in place, be sure you do not loose it. When you change the barrel, ...cock the gun ( ! ) , unload it, and be sure it's on safe. A cocked gun, will take the spring pressure off the cocking assembly, and loosen up the parts. When you drive out the barrel pin; remember, it is peened in, so you will shave off some metal, but the pin goes back in pretty tight, so to re peen it, may not be necessary. Remember to oil all moving parts as you re assemble.
