Awesome is the only adjective that even begins to describe the Cold Steel Laredo Bowie. In fact, it really has to be seen to be appreciated, since mere words just don't do it justice. It features a long, heavy blade made from 4034SS stainless steel, which is flat ground to produce incredible cutting power and perfect balance. And, as an added bonus, it is given an absolutely ferocious cutting edge that terminates in a dagger-sharp point. To further enhance its versatility and efficiency as a weapon, it sports a four and a half-inch long sharpened clip point that helps facilitate the deadly back cut, as well as a wide variety of more conventional cuts and stabbing attacks. The rich black linen Micarta handle is as tough as it is beautiful. It is specially contoured to fit the hand like a glove and to provide a positive grip when cutting, chopping, or thrusting. Each Laredo Bowie is supplied with a Secure-Ex sheath to protect the blade and allow you to wear it safely and securely on your side always ready to defend you and your loved ones.

I’ve carried this knife daily for years (at least since 2015) and I now switch it off with a Drop Forged 9.5” Bowie that I bought in 2021. The Laredo is literally the best non custom Bowie I have seen, The only Bowie that comes close in handling speed and “feel” is the old Ontario Bagwell Hell’s Belle that’s been out of production since the early 2000’s but those are pretty expensive on the secondary market. Cold Steel really made a masterpiece with this one, if it was a non cable tang, and 4 oz. lighter it would be absolutely perfect. However I am very happy with this one and I carry it as my defensive knife. Mine is an old 1st generation one with the SK-5 carbon steel blade and laminated faux cocobolo wood handle. I’ve purchased a custom kydex sheath that’s very similar to the Southern Comfort rig made famous by Mr. Bagwell in his book. I love the original leather sheath with the brass stuf but my studf eventually came off after years of carry and getting knocked against display cases where I worked. Awesome piece, highly recommended!

I bought this XL Bowie 1 month ago , in France where I live . XL for the 40 cm / 16 inch long sharp blade and for his " little " weight 450 gr. / 16 ounce , so Xtra Long & Xtra Light ..! Xtra Laredo Bowie , in 4034 Steel very Well As say Lynn , take the good tool for the good job , make your choice for better work , the axe for tree , a Razor for Barbe , a Bowie for hunt , defense ( wide animal ) , and this Laredo Bowie , is really more for combat knife ( see advantges & inconvenient of the " Rat Tail " in the handle ) , with gravity little more front side , and the weight ligth of this Bowie , and with the " garde " as a Tsuba of this model , made this Bowie particular .! I hope to have the Laredo Bowie VG1 San Maï , made in Japan in a next day . I think to keep my Cold Steel Knifes long time ..! I m just to meet Cold Steel somes months ago , I m 51 Old , Mâle , so I' ve got the Magnum Tanto XII San MaÏ recent Steel VG10 , a Recon Tanto SK5 , & Laredo Bowie 4034 Steel , I am a Little collector & I' ve got somes cap's & ball revolver ( Colt Replics Uberti , ASM , etc ..
