Cold Steel War Hawk

Gifted to me, by my son. We well made, and looks very intimidating.

I have had my war hawk for 4 years now. Have mostly used it for throwing. I use it for bushwakking and survival camping too. The blade is still extremely sharp and I won't say i'm the best for sharpenning tools out there... In Canada I bought this from Blades Canada, very good service. I also have 3 folding knives from Cold Steel and all have not failed me. I love flipping out the 6 inch blade of my Luzon when my archery freinds have an arrow stuck in a tree and someone says: Anyone has a pocket knife? I say: yessir here you go! The axe is more of an all out tactical tool than a real wood chopper, I use an other tool for that. Here`s the deal: just try not to grin when you hold the War Hawk in your hands, chances are you will... I still do!

Warhawk This is a unique item, I can see various tasks this can be used for. Would I use this for a survivalist tool? No not for processing wood. The head is to light and the handle connection IMO is a weak spot. Light limb work and small chopping tasks, the pickeroon end for sorting and or retrieving material. But its not named after wood processing. In the spirit of the name this thing could be quite lethal. I purchased it because some Cold Steel products interest me and this in the hand feels good and the fit and finish is good. As I would expect from Cold Steel. The blade protector is interesting but a little awkard meaning it does not deploy quickly. But it does protect the blade and or accidental blade incidents.

Saw reviews. I found the handle to be perfect size for a mans size hands. One complained about the handle not wrapped, so I wrapped it in cord. I love it. Don't complain, purchase a quality product and suit it to your needs. This is a very well thought out and designed weapon. I will add green turksheads above and below the wrap but it belongs in a mans hands

This tomahawk is awesome! It's lightweight and unique sheath design make it comparable to none! Wish it's handle was stronger though! Only negative thing I can say about this product!

I'm glad I ordered one, it's rugged, hard and it will cut. I like the handle length. The sheath is handy, I made a belt loop in about a minute, two simple knots and a nylon strap. You can use it with a belt, chest strap and even a bungee sling clip will attach. It hangs at a good angle too.

Generally like the product but handle needs a better non-slip surface.

really should wrap that handle like sog . for some reason thats where they break when cold . Its cold where I live

As survivalist on Naked and Afraid you can take 1 item. As a shelter building guy my choice was the War Hawk. I was dropped off in Limpopo South Africa to do what I do. For 21 days I used the War Hawk to build 2 different shelters, a smoker, sun shade and various tools as well as aiding in processing a 400 lb Water Buck. I chopped through Acia and Iron wood (one of the hardest woods) with my axe. It took the punishment and kept on going. I t know sits in a trophy case, retired but very much still usable. I can't say enough how glad I am I chose this as my item other than to say I trust Cold Steel now literally with my life and when I go back for the forty day challenge I'll likely be taking a trail hawk with me and I'll let you know how it goes.
