Description

Click the AMMO link for our list of suggested pellets. Find official NRA 10-meter targets, safety glasses and other gear by clicking the ACCESSORIES link.
A CO2 rifle that gets up to 300 shots per tank fill! Ideal for shooters 16 and up (with adult supervision) to learn to shoot in 10-meter competition. Daisy's Match Grade Avanti 888 Medalist has a beautiful laminated hardwood stock.

It has a crowned Lothar Walther barrel, precision-bored for .177 match pellets with 12 lands and grooves and a right-hand twist. The barrel is topped off with a weight, giving the rifle a slight forward weight distribution. The front sight has interchangeable aperture inserts, and the rear is a micrometer adjustable peep sight. The 888 Medalist is very accurate, and most shooters won't outgrow the rifle's potential. Although official competition rules do not allow scopes, the rifle has a dovetail scope mount if you want to use this rifle for shooting other targets or just for fun. The rifle comes with a sling, a forearm rail, buttpad inserts to adjust pull and a refillable/removable 2.5-oz. CO2 cylinder.

Does not include the CO2 fill device. Look in the accessories section for this gun for a fill device that let's you fill it economically from bulk-fill CO2 tanks!

Awsome airgun. Good for compation, the people complaning should just let the air rifle speak for its self. The long trigger pull makes me hit the 2nd stage and then I would know when it would break like glass. I have used this gun for comp at 10 meters and I dominated the comp. Every one had more better guns, but bad pellets. This gun is not picky on pellets so you could use any pellets you like. This gun will fire and keep going with a match grade barlle. It will get the job done.

I wish they would make wights for the stock to balance out the gun.

Don't be bugged by the trigger and let the gun speak. You can costamize it, but don't go over board. This gun can be used for 10 meter comp, and I have went all the way to national comp and almost won with this air gun 7th in national. So don't blame the gun and let it work out the bugs and speak.

Ummmmmmmm Steve...Why the Daisy? I have probably 20 or more targets taped to my gun cabinet that was shot @ 10, 20, 30 and some farther yards away... Shot from my 25 caliber My M-Rod 22 caliber Disco, Condor, and the three 22 caliber Crosman bulk filled 2250's I have built...And all shoot over 500fps, and I DO bench rest shoot 5 shot groups and ALL FIVE pellets are in the EXACT same hole!.!.!. And I have MANY MANY MANYYYYY people who "witness and have Witnessed" this MANY times to back this up... I am surprised you only have 4 thumbs down on your comment...Your saying speed kills accuracy.. So not true, or we would all still be shooting slingshots, or Red Rider bb guns.. Why would every company be going crazy to make the fastest shells for "powdered" rifles and air rifles if speed kills accuracy?

Peter--The 10-meter guns shoot at 500-560 fps because that's all the velocity you need for accuracy at 10 meters. Beyond 10 meters, these guns have poor accuracy. In the 1960s, 10-meter guns shot 640 fps. They didn't need that much power for shooting a distance of 10 meters, so they didn't need to make guns that powerful. Accuracy IS possible at 1,000 fps and even faster. Look at the AirForce Condor. It drills tiny little holes at 50 yards (.75" 10-shot group), and the pellets scream downrange. You wouldn't get anything close to that size group at 50 yards with a 10-meter gun. I asked airgun writer Tom Gaylord about your comment, and he provided some of the data in this comment. He's also done some extensive writing about velocity and accuracy. In fact, he discovered that vibration seems to be far more important than velocity when it comes to accuracy. He wrote an article about this very thing in the 2013 summer airgun catalog.

Steve: I know your comment is old but for the other readers as well: Olympic grade $3,500 Competion air rifles also shoot in the 500-565 f.p.s. range and that's for accuracy. So to answer Steves question, the Daisy shoots in the 500f.p.s. range for accuracy. I see Steve went out and purchased a different air rifle that shoots at 1,000 f.p.s., I give you one gues which gun is more accurate. It's the Daisy of course. Why? Because it shoots in the 500f.p.s. velocity range for better accuracy.

I have had interest in this rifle myself. But after contacting Daisy Cust. Serv. They could not respond with a "technical" answer to my question of why the 888 Medalist only developed 560f.p.s. muzzle velocity? I purchased a Brand name rifle that was cheaper than the 888 and shoots at 1,000 f.p.s. velocity. JMHO. Tim Norwalk, OH

Rifle is very accurate, the sights are good but could use a couple of different inserts beside just circles. The stock is beautiful and holds very nice in all positions. The weighted front (co 2 tank and barrell weight) keep the gun from moving at all this helps to overide the trigger pull creep. The trigger pulls nice but creeps a long way after engagement with the sear. Only the free play is adjustable not the weight of pull or travel. The pull can be lightened but requires some gunsmithing. (don't do it if your not sure how to ) it is quite easy to ruin the internals if you make a mistake. The trigger is nothing you can't live with and shouldn;t ruin the overall rating of this gun. Other than a few minor problems it's a pretty nice little rifle for the aspiring target shooter. The co 2 tank needs a little work on the threading on the gun end it is somewhat difficult to screw in, use a 5/8' box wrench the wrench supplied doesn't do it and will ruin the hex end on the tube. kw

A little better trigger adjustment would help. The wrench for th co 2 tank is no good at all doesn't fit properly and is soft steel.

A little heavy for a small shooter. Scope mounts easily and is a nice accessory for field shooting.

Can be scoped . Accessories: Sling, Stock spacers. Sling adjustment scale in stock. Overal finish and balance. The way the gun can be set up for a variety of physiques. Accuracy is outstanding.

Trigger. Quite mushy

I wouldn't use this gun for formal competition, but for practice it is an excellent choice.
