Blade release takes a bit of getting used to, instead of push button release its a pull slide toward you release (it works better if you slide both sides toward you, luckily i only use it at work for cutting boxes open not sure how it would be in pressure situation

Excellent knife. To be so light, it’s very solid. The action is smooth and the safety is top notch. Don’t let the size fool you, this is the perfect EDC knife. The slide vs. button is awkward at first, but once you build the muscle memory, it’s second nature.

Great knife! As a left handed person, I appreciate the ability to use this knife with either hand and NOT be affected by the clip or switch. The lock on this knife is absolutely trustworthy. I never have to worry about it opening bc the lock has worn or is loose.

I have really enjoyed this short blade for everyday/anything needs, it feels well built and strong yet slender and short, an excellent balance between a solid strong and reliable automatic blade but still slim and minimalist for everyday carry.

I’ve had several Spyderco over the last few years and this knife far exceeds the quality. Just the initial feel and look to the knife you can tell you’re holding a good knife. There’s no play whatsoever. It’s very light weight. I have pretty big hands and it fits well in my hand once the knife is fully opened.

Beautiful peice nice workmanship i love Sog blades

I returned a more expensive SOG XR Ultra for this SOG-TAC AU CA. Machining carbon fiber may not be SOG's forte. Machining aluminum and D-2 steel seems to be absolutely in SOG's wheelhouse. I was half-expecting a knife that resembled the look of the knife in the photos on the websites but handled poorly or carried imperfections. SOG delivered an excellent example of a well-designed knife. The feel and movement of my AU CA is solid. No odd creaks or blade action. It is firm and steady. The lock/release button has excellent detents but may be a little difficult to move for women with slender fingers. I cannot imagine the blade deploying inadvertently with the lock in place. I love the design of the scales: it evokes modern gun design. In my opinion, the shorter CA model blade works better in this design than the full-length blade. Visually, there seem to be better proportions. The scales are short, but it feels predictable in the hand. The hand model used in the photos here may have small hands. A big hand will easily swallow the handle. Preppers and combat LARPers will probably want something bigger. A YouTube reviewer mentioned how automatics are great for walking a dog in the evening when the other hand is holding the leash. That description sold me on an automatic's practicality. I think all of my manuals, especially the button-locks, flip out just as fast, but the automatic needs just a centimeter pull of the thumb. It is not the combat knife of every 80's kid's Rambo dreams. There is a seriousness and a practicality to this knife that absolutely appeals. There is no corny battlefield pretense. The understated nature and the right materials used in this knife make it right for urban self-defense and quick cord cuts. It's a knife that makes complete sense to me.
