The Athlon Optics Ares BTR Gen2 HD 2.5-15x50 Rifle Scope with APLR4 FFP MOA reticle features important updates from previous versions of this scope while remaining affordable for the features included. It utilizes a 30mm one piece 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum tube and a high-precision erector system for consistent and repeatable operation.
This scope uses low-dispersion HD glass with an improved optical system that results in better light transfer regardless of magnification setting for a sharp sight picture, with advanced fully-multicoated lenses that use XPL protective coating that resists dirt and oil more than cheaper coatings. It is waterproof, shockproof, and argon purged to offer increased fogproofing versus normal scopes.
The Athlon Optics Ares BTR Gen 2 HD 2.5-15x50 has upgraded turrets that utilize stainless steel interior components and definitive clicks that can be easily felt, and the elevation turret has a precision zero stop. The turrets have a click value of 1/4 MOA, they both adjust in a range of 100 MOA, and they have a 25 MOA adjustment per rotation.
The APLR4 FFP (first focal plane) MOA reticle offers etched glass, a fine central dot, and hash marks on the crosshairs out to a distance of 40 MOA in all directions, as well as a Christmas tree section of holdover markings and dots at the bottom. The variable brightness settings for the illuminated reticle can be activated for the parts out to 40 MOA.

I bought this scope specifically because of the range of power. I wanted something with a very low power but that also had enough power to take a long-range shot. My criteria also included the lighted reticle, and 50mm objective which it had. I hunt bears in the north woods that come in during last light and may want to take it out west for deer/elk as well. I just got to use it for bear season, and it performed perfectly. It is exceptionally clear and the lighted reticle works great (with off between each level, a great +). I have several scopes from the popular brands and this one stacks up very well against all of them. I would buy again or recommend.
