The Hawke Airmax 30 WA 6-24x50 SF AMX IR 10x Mil-Dot Scope was engineered with the particular characteristics of airguns in mind. The H2 optics system used on this scope yields superb results because it has 16 layer fully multi-coated lenses and features a 50mm objective lens. It has a wide field of view and 4" eye relief, and a sturdy 30mm aluminum mono-tube.
The optics package utilizes lenses that are shockproof, nitrogen purged, waterproof, and fog proof to provide a clean and crisp sight picture even in low light or adverse weather conditions. The capped target turrets use 1/10 MRAD clicks to adjust the elevation and windage in a range of 17 MRAD, and the scope uses a fast focus eyebell.
The second focal plane (SFP) mil-dot reticle uses etched glass, and red illumination can be enabled in six different levels of intensity, with off positions between each level. The spacing is accurate at the 10x magnification setting, with aim points 1 mil apart out to 5 mil on all the vertical and horizontal lines, plus hollow posts with mil spacing for bracketing past the aim points. The bottom includes horizontal bars every 1 mil starting at .5 mil that further divide the first portion of the bottom vertical line for long-distance shooting.
The package aids with maintenance and ease of use because it comes with accessories such as a 4" sunshade, 4" sidewheel, hex key, CR2032 battery, lens cloth, metal flip-up lens covers with flip-up removal tool, instruction manual, scope alignment booklet, and reticle booklet. Excellent glass. Bright, flat, high resolution image. Very sharp "snap" in objective focus making it easy to range the target based on focus even at 10x. AMX reticle is excellent for Field Target. Included flip-up metal lens caps, included metal objective lens shade tube and 4" focus wheel. Fairly accurate range index on the focus wheel. No need to shop the internet for necessary FT accessories. Illuminated reticle. I don't use it much but the few times I have it was helpful for dark or shaded targets. Works very well for FT without having to pay Sightron prices.
Things I would have changed:Cheaper would be nice. But you get what you pay for with rifle scopes and not one dime more. This scope is a bargain given the quality, especially the glass.
What others should know:This is a big scope. Be careful what you wish for because you are going to get a lot of it.

thought (mistakenly) this hi cost scope was a first focal plane scope. in other words, if you want to rely on the reticle mil marks, changing power of the scope will not change the magnification of the reticle. is the mil marks of the reticle set up to the highest magnification of the scope?
