FX STX Slug Liner A, .30 Cal., 700mm
More and more airgunners are starting to use slugs instead of traditional, diabolo-shaped pellets for everything from plinking and target practice to pesting and small-game hunting. So, it’s no surprise that Swedish airgun innovator FX would develop a barrel/interchangeable liner system designed to meet the specific requirements of various projectile types.
With the FX STX Slug Liner A, you can customize your .22-, .25- or .30-cal FX PCP air rifle for optimum accuracy when choosing a swaged slug over a diabolo-type pellet load. Just remove the barrel and shroud from your rifle, pull the existing liner out and replace it with another based on your ammo choice. It’s that simple!
From FX: "The FX STX Slug Liner tailors the barrel to slugs to provide optimum accuracy. You'll find these liners work best with the FX Hybrid Slugs due to their lighter weight but retained bearing surface." Fx reports they will also work with other swaged slugs bearing these specifications:
- .22 cal: 19-32 grains, sized .217
- .25 cal: 26-40 grains, sized .250
- .30 cal: 40-55 grains, sized .300
FX reports that lighter slugs will shoot better out of shorter, 500mm barrels. Also, heavier, boat-tail shaped slugs may not fit the current magazine design and will need to be loaded one at a time. For optimal accuracy, only use swaged slugs sized correctly to the bore diameter.

Things I liked: Shot only once so far. Easy to change barrels in my Wildcat MkII, 5 minutes or less. Tested with the new NSA 47.2 gr. slugs at 97 yards on a day with swirling 10-15 mph winds. Slugs show great promise as group was about 3/4 inch high but strung out horizontally 2-1/2+ inches probably due to wind. I used same aim point & didn't try to dope wind. Also shot JSB 44.75 gr. pellets at 50 yards and showed that this barrel will shoot both slugs & pellets. I can't wait for a good calm shooting day to see what this barrel is really capable of.
Things I would have changed: Absolutely nothing!
What others should know: This barrel is definitely worth it if you want to shoot slugs at 50 yards or longer ranges in your same caliber & barrel length. With my gun there was no drop-off in accuracy with pellets at 50 yards & under with the slug barrel. Slugs and pellets did have a little different point of impact at 50 yards. I'm looking forward to future testing with new pellets & slugs as they become available.
Things I liked: ONCE YOU GO SLUG, YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! Very accurate, i mean very accurate at very long range and the power is outstanding!!
Things I would have changed: everything seems to be perfect!! OK! H &N and JSB, make some slugs!
What others should know: The 47 and 50 grain works for me, very accurate with good knock down power at long rang in the .30 cal.
