Famous for its time in military use, and infamous for its use by gangsters during the prohibition era, the M1A1 has a storied history in the United States. Commonly referred to as a "Tommy gun" and "Chicago Typewriter", the real steel version saw U.S. Military service from 1938-1971. The .177 caliber steel BB version features the same iconic looks and functionality as the firearm.
A 30 round stick magazine houses two 12 gram CO2 cartridges that provide enough power to sling steel BBs at up to 435 fps, as well as give an enjoyable recoil impulse thanks to the blowback action. The rifle can be operated in semi-auto or full-auto, sending a full magazine of BBs downrange in a matter of a few seconds.

What is the cyclic rate of fire? The MP40 is 500 and it is extremely slow compared to my M1A1. It sounds like a MG42!

Can you use the .177 Smart Shot copper plated lead bbs in the M1A1?
My gun arrived dry on the internals. Can the Legends Umarex be taken down by pushing on the rear button like the Cybergun We airsoft model for cleaning. Is disassembly the same? see this video of procedure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4_AXhui8G8 Has any one slid off the upper part to lube the gun?
I tried. The switch that allows you to go from safe to fire will not go back to safe. I found the release button on the back, pressed it and the upper part "released" but will not allow me to slide the top portion off.. This may or may not be related to the faulty switch. I did not get the service contract. Pyramid was cordial, gave me Umarex Tech number. I called, maybe caught the guy on a bad day-"The gun cannot be fixed, we won't accept it back for repairs, you have to buy a new one." I said thanks, and he hung up. My mistake not getting the service agreement, wish Pyramid would take back. Hope this helps.

LOTS OF FUN!! The full auto switch is the FUN switch! Very realistic looks and action. Even the plastic stock is almost as nice as real wood. You can't tell the stock is plastic until you tap on it. I think the stock is a better rendition than the stock on the Ledgends Cowboy Rifle. The M1A1 is much more accurate than I was expecting. The trigger is a little stiff but if you shoot full auto, I don't think it matters. I found a replica sling and magazine pouch on ebay and these items compliment the rifle and make it even more like WW2 weapon.
Things I would have changed:I thought I wanted a wood stock but I am perfectly happy with the stock it came with, so nothing.
What others should know:If you use Crosman CO2 cartridges, you might need a spacer between them so both are pireced. I use a penny. Sometimes I put one full CO2 cartridge in and one empty one for shorter shooting sessions. Stock up on CO2 and BBs you go through them fast.
