10 of 44 Air Venturi Avenge-X Classic Synthetic Reviews
Excellent Quality. Innovative design: you are actually getting five different guns with the offered modifications to the Avenge X chassis. Works out of the box--unlike some other "highly regarded" PCP rifles out there which leak air. Flexible adjustments to calibrate optimal combinations of hammer, fill pressure and regulator pressure for accuracy and shot count--but I found the factory settings fine for accuracy and number of shots per fill.
Things I Would Have ChangedNot much.
What Others Should KnowOverall, nice design and production quality. You would have to go much further up the price scale for comparable features and performance.
This rifle is amazing! It is so accurate and easy to shoot. It is my new personal favorite grab gun. My next buy is a new caliber barrel. I have the .25 but I will make it a .22 too. This is so cool.
Things I Would Have ChangedI can't think of a thing I would change.
What Others Should KnowI opened the box and started shooting it and have not had to adjust a thing. It just pounds tacks.
Accuracy, my .177 classic tube version shoots under 1MOA indoors. Adjustability, the externally adjustable regulator and hammer spring, as well as the trigger adjustments and adjustable cheek rest and buttpad. Dual gauges (even my Weihrauch doesn't have a regulator gauge). Trigger is great once you remove the safety washers on the sear engagement screw, the 2nd stage creep disappears and it is very crisp, though a little heavy for my taste with the tension screw backed all the way out. Barrel seems to be very good, mine loves Baraccuda Match 10.65 grain 4.50mm head size at about 850-875 fps. Shroud is quite effective, and I'd rate the noise level as a 2/5. I added a Weihrauch silencer and it is very quiet. I found accuracy is slightly better with the Weihrauch silencer compared to the Buck Rail silencer I tried. I like that it has standard threads. Picatinny rails. My Maple O-ring magazines for my Marauder work in this rifle. It comes with a high cap mag and a single shot tray.
Things I Would Have ChangedOn the example I received, the rear stock section did not sit flush with the action in front of the trigger, where the short stock screw is. I found this screw to be loose on mine, and when I tightened it, the stock flexed outwards at the edges, indicating a void in that area. I added a 2mm washer on the short stock screw in between the action and the stock, and it seems to have resolved the problem. The picatinny rail screws were also just barely snugged, I had to tighten them. The groups tightened up after I tightened all the stock screws. When using a bipod compared to a bag near the trigger, the POI is about 2 MIL higher. I read the Avenge-X is free of this issue, but mine definitely has it and I can see how it would be the case since the barrel and stock are both flexy and the pic rail attaches to the barrel band. Unlike Tyler Patner's claim, the barrel cannot be free floated to alleviate this issue by removing barrel band o rings. The barrel sags too much and contacts the band.
What Others Should KnowI ordered a solid barrel band from an auction site as well as a barrel harmonics/centering kit. I am hoping this resolves the POI shift issues. If not, I will upgrade to the Saber Tactical aluminum chassis, since it doesn't flex and the pic rail is not attached to the barrel like it is in the stock configuration. I like this rifle so much that I am willing to invest another $500 into it to get it perfect. I also plan on polishing the barrel as it seems to foul faster than my LW polygonal or Weihrauch barrels. My reg creeped by about 50psi at first but it settled in and works great now. The issues on my example may be a unique experience. I've shot about 1000 rounds through mine so far and enjoy it greatly. Once I solve the POI issues it will be one of my favorite rifles. I paired mine with a Primary Arms SLX scope, and yes, I did try 3 different scopes and 2 sets of rings to verify the POI shift issues was not in the optics. I believe this rifle cannot be beaten for this price range.
This is my first PCP and I'm enjoying it. The accuracy is way better then any break barrel I have or have had, the power is great and paired with a buckrail moderator, this .25 cal is backyard friendly! The loudest thing is the sound of the pellet making impact. Right now I have tuned it for 33g jsb and I can put the whole 13 round magazine in a 1 inch square at 55 yards. So far I have only put around 200 rounds through it and it really likes the 33g jsb and the h&n 30g hp slugs with my current tune, but having the reg set at 2800psi, I'm averaging around 30 shots before having to refill... but that is fine with me with the power I'm getting which is roughly 58fpe.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowMake sure you clean and lubricate the gun before shooting. Mine seemed kind of dry and the barrel was pretty dirty when I unboxed it.
Ohhh......Everything. The low- high pressure switch saves time and air when target practicing. Very adjustable trigger and matched with a UTG bug buster is extremely accurate.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing I can think of.
What Others Should KnowSure, it is a little heavy. So what. I have an original Avenger .25 and 2- Avenge X .25's. I don't buy 3 of the same gun for no good reason. These guns are tough, accurate, easy to load, a blast to shoot and considering all my other guns- Origins, Gauntlets, Jet-2 etc. give top bang for the buck. Anything can be micro-analyzed. Doesn't mean anyone knows a ton more than you. It just means some are hard to please and others enjoy b*tchin'. Me, I like to shoot.

Very nice build quality. Very accurate out da box.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing I can think of at the moment.
What Others Should KnowI'm not one for writing reviews, but - This deserves a review. Wanting a inexpensive air rifle. One with a good "punch" for da critters out here in the fields and not worrying about beating it up like I do with my other rifles. I decided on the Avenge-X 25cal, and some Zan 30gr slugs. It's a chilly, sunny, windy day here in Michigan, but I wasn't gonna let that stop me from going out and see how this shoots. So, I Installed a scope and bore sighted. I had this kinda drawn out review, but there isn't enough room here. In a nut shell, I am impressed. This Avenge-X has a very nice build quality, Shoots very good outta da box and all I did was install a scope and adjusted the cheek riser. The trigger is very nice. It has a short travel in the first stage and broke cleanly with a light pull. Can't forget to mention how quiet it shoots. WOW, it's pretty quiet. I won't be adding a moderator. No need in my opinion. So, I'm looking forward to a calmer day to get this dialed right in.
