Description
The Athlon Optics Ares BTR Gen2 HD 2.5-15x50 Rifle Scope with APRS5 FFP MIL reticle features important updates from previous versions of this scope while remaining affordable for the features included. It utilizes a 30mm one piece 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum tube and a high-precision erector system for consistent and repeatable operation.
This scope uses low-dispersion HD glass with an improved optical system that results in better light transfer regardless of magnification setting for a sharp sight picture, with advanced fully-multicoated lenses that use XPL protective coating that resists dirt and oil more than cheaper coatings. It is waterproof, shockproof, and argon purged to offer increased fogproofing versus normal scopes.
The Athlon Optics Ares BTR Gen 2 HD 2.5-15x50 has upgraded turrets that utilize stainless steel interior components and definitive clicks that can be easily felt, and the elevation turret has a precision zero stop. The turrets have a click value of 0.1 MIL, they both adjust in a range of 29 MIL, and they have a 10 MIL adjustment per rotation.
The APRS5 FFP (first focal plane) MIL reticle offers etched glass, a fine central dot, and hash marks on the crosshairs out to a distance of 9 mils in all directions, as well as a Christmas tree section of holdover markings and dots at the bottom. The variable brightness settings for the illuminated reticle can be activated for the parts out to 9 mils.
To get a scope that yields superb accuracy from short to long ranges, buy the Athlon Optics Ares BTR Gen2 HD 2.5-15x50 with APRS5 FFP MIL reticle at Pyramyd AIR today.

2 of 2 Athlon Optics 2.5-15x50 Ares BTR Reviews
This is my 1st scope with exposed turrets and I've only had this out to my local 100yd range a handful of times. After the 1st range trip and getting zeroed, I set the zero stop. I'm getting .6 to .8 groups with 6.5CM. on the 2nd trip my zero had moved. turns out the zero stop slipped at some point. It could have been user error, but be mindful of it. All in all, I wish I had gotten the helos 2-12, but I love this scope.

This scope has a unique combination of features that makes it excellent for hunting in the north east and target shooting. These Athlon scopes have excellent turrets that track extremely well. Any scope that doesn’t is not worth using. In my opinion, I have no use for a scope that doesn’t come with parallax adjustment, a min mag setting of 3x or less, 30mm+ tube, first focal plane reticle, and some mil/moa dots for elevation holdover. This Ares BTR 2.5-15x50 has all those features at a price far below their competitor’s scopes of similar quality with the same features. I chose this scope for my 45cal smokeless muzzleloader because I needed something with a very low mag setting for quick/close shots on deer in the woods and a high mag setting for shots out to 300 yards and target practice. I haven’t hunted with it yet since firearm deer season hasn’t opened in my area but I have used it at the range and I checked its performance in low light conditions. At the range, it allows me to zoom in and see the target clearly. At 100 yards, and set at 15x, I can place the tiny dot in the middle of the reticle precisely on the 1/2” bullseye. The picture is bright and crisp. I have shot numerous groups between .65” and .45” with it. In the evening the picture remains bright and crisp. The 50mm obj. lens brings in plenty of light even at the highest mag settings. This scope is phenomenal.
