Description

The Beeman Chief II Plus Sidelever PCP Air Rifle takes the effective and well-regarded models in the lineup and adds a significant improvement in the form of sidelever cocking. This version of the air gun has a hardwood stock and can reach velocities up to 1100 FPS in .177 and 1000 FPS in .22, making it a convenient and affordable option for pest control, small-game hunting, and plinking.

This model of the air rifle has a hardwood stock that lends it a traditional look and feel and a rubber buttpad for comfortable control. This air gun features an integrated moderator that results in shots that are quieter than competing air rifles without sound reduction technology, and a 3500 PSI (241 BAR) air cylinder that can deliver an ample number of shots per fill.

The Beeman Chief II Plus Sidelever offers a two-stage adjustable trigger that helps shooters get a crisp and repeatable break that leads to accurate shots. In addition, the pressure gauge on the underside of the forearm makes it simple to monitor the fill pressure.

For precise aiming without additional equipment, this air rifle comes with a fixed fiber optic front sight and a two-dot rear fiber optic sight that adjusts for both windage and elevation, and it has an 11mm dovetail optics rail for adding a scope.

To get a straightforward and affordable air gun for effective plinking, pest control, and small-game hunting, buy a Beeman Chief II Plus Sidelever PCP Air Rifle with hardwood stock from Pyramyd AIR now.

The stock I got was pretty nice , accurate out to 30 yards with the JSB 10 grains , light weight so good for all day carry .

As other's have said the trigger Is awful out of the box so an upgrade would be nice , Removable moderator and open sights would also be nice .

After a couple of mags the trigger seized up It just would not fire , after taking the trigger apart I could not see what caused the problem so I just lubed the trigger and put It back together and now shoots fine , the trigger Is pretty primitive as Is the adjustment . Im not sure If the hammer spring moves when shooting but I start out at around 880 fps with 10g JSB's and finish up at over 1000 fps I might put a heavier hammer spring In there , forget tight groups out to 50 + yards at least In 177 . Anyway for the $$$ I cant really complain .

The stock, overall quality, feel, and side lever mechanism. The ease of adjustability of the hammer spring for different power levels. The power and accuracy of the gun. I have about 500 shots through the gun and here are some test results with a 10.5 grain pellet: -Factory hammer spring setting .33in (8.5 turns) 1050fps (25fpe)2,600psi. -Hammer spring at .41in (~ 10.5 turns) ~1100fps (28fpe) 2,600psi -Hammer spring at .25in (~7 turns) ~980fps(22fpe)@2,400psi This gun has the power to use a pellet heavier than the 10.5 grain tested which would maximize energy and long-range accuracy. I am satisfied with the .177 and the .25in (7-turn) hammer spring tune giving ample power and accuracy for shooting out ~40 yards with a high shot count and relatively low ammo cost.

Improve safety to make it easier to use. Upgrade trigger guard from plastic. Make the sights easier to remove. Make the moderator threaded and easily replaceable. ----- More test info: With the .25in (7-turn) hammer spring tune and 10.5g pellet a 48 shot string (four magazines) between 2,900-1,600psi (reported every 5 shots) looks like this: 2,900psi (880fps-18fpe), 2,800(880fps), 2,700(890fps), 2,600(930fps), 2,500(938fps), 2,400(980fps-22fpe), 2,300(974fps), 2,200(967fps), 1,900(930fps-20fpe). Using 10.5g copper-coated Stoeger X-Series Pellets with the 12-shot magazine, center-to-center accuracy 12 shot groups are .25in 20 yards and .75in 40 yards. Filling to 3,500 adds another 30 shots good for ranges up to 20 yards-- 3,500psi(670fps), 3,400(690fps), 3,300(725fps), 3,200(770fps), 3,100(782fps), 3,000(820fps).

I have found when using the 12-shot magazine, the 10.5g copper-coated Stoeger X-Series Pellets shoot best; they have a full cone skirt that matches the cone on the pellet pusher that guides the pellet from the magazine into the breech consistently. The Crossman pellets I have tested do not have a full cone-shaped skirt (flat on the back side not enough cone) and only shoot well from the single-shot tray.

Handsome beech stock, sidelever, weight and phenomenal accuracy. Happy to see a good factory poppet valve, much better than the previous models.

If you know what your getting with a Beeman (They are excellent tinker rifles) not really much to complain about for the price. The factory moderator leaves much to be desired for me as do the factory sights. Never been a big fan of them on any of my Beemans but they do work!

Out of the box, IMO Beeman guns need some TLC. This rifle is no different, little rough around the edges but that's just something to expect. Can't question reliability out of the box because I completely rework all my Beeman guns and what most complain about becomes irrelevant. What I can say after a complete tear down, inspection, cleanup, barrel re-crown and all the "roughness" worked out this air rifle is one of the better assembled guns and a tack driver thus far just from plinking. I scrapped the factory moderator and machined a 1/2-20 adapter to accommodate a suppressor of my choosing which is leaps and bounds over the factory setup. Without a moderator it's NOT backyard friendly unless your hammer spring is backed way out which isn't advisable. Really enjoying this sidelever chief, absolutely would recommend it for anyone willing to dedicate some TLC to spruce up. Excellent .177 squirrel rifle with more power than you'll need and the accuracy to go along with shot after shot.

This little gem deserves an update. I have put over 300rds through this chief after giving it some TLC. LOVE IT! Slapped some Hawke glass on and from 30yrds with 7.9gr HP premiers ragged hole groupings with ease. Seems to like the lighter pellets but with a heavier adjustment on the hammer spring JSB heavies do well. One thing I dislike is the plastic trigger group. Important internals are metal but the housing and guard are plastic. For the money I'd expect Beeman could put the same gold trigger group on this chief as they do the deluxe QB78. I have several deluxe 78's so I sacrificed a trigger group from one and affixed it to the chief which is a direct bolt on. Made a BIG difference and should already be on the gun from the factory. Overall I'm so happy with my chief II plus AFTER it's modifications. IMO as a first PCP gun it may leave allot to be desired for someone starting out and frustrations may follow. Still Beemans IMO require TLC to iron out the bugs, after they rock!
