SHAMSHIR
The Cold Steel Shamshir's expertly heat treated carbon steel blade has a deep curve and a narrow cross section, combined with a keen edge and a very sharp point. It's complimented by a brass crossbar hilt and a faux buffalo horn handle that terminates in a distinctive bulbous pommel. The pommel is slightly down turned to keep the wielder's grip as secure as possible when making hard cutting strokes. The beautiful hand-made scabbard is made of thick black leather (so it won't dull the blade) and reinforced by a brass throat and chape. The scabbard also comes complete with dual suspension rings for ease of carry or display.

My family has Ukrainian kozak traditions and I ordered two swords to dance and perform with to entertain guests at our wedding anniversary. The original idea was to order less expensive disposable swords now, and commission better ones later, but I have been so impressed with these that I intend to keep them permanently. They arrived safe and well packed with grease coating the blades. After cleaning, I examined both swords very closely and did not detect any flaws or manufacturing errors, no looseness in the blade, hilt, or grip, and no gaps. Both swords were razor sharp. They fit the scabbards very tightly, and appeared to pick up trace residue or something from inside but with usage this has stopped. The swords move more freely out of the scabbard now while remaining tight enough to be secure. The leather wrapping the scabbards is tight and as I see free of flaws, gaps, or slop. The swords weigh 1.6lbs drawn, with flexible, resilient blades that spring back to proper shape. They are light, well balanced, aand very maneuverable, which is helpful for dancing and twirling. The set itself is very beautiful and draws compliments from everyone who sees them. The brass work is very attractive and well done, ornate enough to be flashy, but not gaudy. I can go on at length praising them and honestly, I cannot think of a single criticism. They are well made and exceptionally beautiful, especially for the price, and I'm quite proud of them. I originally went to purchase a Scottish basket hilt sword but none were available at the time. The shop had this that caught my eye. I decided to buy it due to the beauty and quality. While I never use my swords as I keep them for historical representation. Everyone has a Katana but this is different. I recommend.
