FX Crown MkII PCP Air Rifle, Synthetic Stock

I have the new Crown Mark2 .22 cal 500mm barrel with synthetic stock rifle. This gun is true FX quality all the way. It's lightweight and shoots like a dream. At 19 yds. it's hole in a hole for 15 shots. FX USA customer support is superior to talk with and very knowledgeable, whether by email or phone. If they can't answer your question they'll find it for you. This is one fine gun that is true to FX's high quality design engineering and fabrication. I also find the moderator makes this gun shoot very, very quiet; the pellet hitting the target makes more noise than my gun shooting it. Even with my findings stated below I would still purchase this gun again, but without the disappointment of it not performing to what I expected from the advertising. Love this gun!!!

The Factory needs to correct the discrepancy between their advertised velocities/pellet weight and what the gun is actually set up and tuned to shoot. This is misleading as I purchased my gun to hunt with using the 25.39 gr pellets at the higher velocities and energy as advertised.

For what this gun was setup and tuned for at the factory it shoots perfect out of the box. The Factory setup and tuning is 880 fps using the JSB 18.13 gr pellets - not the 25.39 gr pellets!! My average velocity using JSB 18.13 gr. pellets is 894 fps which is perfectly within factory setup and tuning. Using the JSB 25.39 gr pellets (as advertised) the max I was able to get was 773 fps average not the 950 fps (as advertised)! One other note, out of the box Reg pressure is 110bar, the Front Power and the Rear Power adjuster settings are both on MAX. That's the fastest it will shoot! Increasing the regulator pressure only results in the fps going down because the hammer/spring cannot open the valve enough to let in more air. The only way to get the higher maximum velocities is the gun WILL have to be modified. My disappointment can help you with a happy decision. Remember, the Mark2 is a brand new gun and not much information out there yet. I'm still a happy camper.

If you setup the scope and mounts optimally for shooting comfort and accuracy, the magazine placement May hit the scope and not go correctly.

Bad magazine design in the Crown!!!

Buy an FX Impact instead of a Crown and you will never have a problem with the magazine hitting the scope. You can just buy a scope that you like with mounts that fit you without considering if the one size magazine will fit underneath the scope.

Light. Seems well made. Accurate. Synthetic stock is very comfortable.

Cost. Very expensive. Accessories are very expensive also. S79.99 for the magazine used for slugs. Kind of ridiculous when you can get a Pmag from Magpul for an AR 15 for 12.99. And the Pmag has 5x the material. So gouging you for that cost seems like a bit of a slap to the face. But it gets worse. Just check out the caliber conversions. The kits for that cost more than some of the complete PCP rifles I bought. When you get a slug barrel liner, slug magazine, and a spare tank or 2, some ammo, and your up almost to $1000 just to get everything you need to use it comfortably. Get ready to dump some money into this purchase, and then again to accessorize it.

It's going to be hard to upgrade to a .30 caliber 700 mm barrel. The shroud is hard to find in that length without buying a conversion kit with it. And it only comes with the telescoping shroud. Which I don't like the looks of. The continuum comes with a fixed shroud. But it's only available in .25 caliber. When it comes to accuracy, you get your money's worth. I can put them all into the same hole. Pellet on pellet.

The FX is a very accurate air rifle and fairly quiet. It expensive but seems to be well made. My only compliant is the magazines that FX makes for it. If you do not have scope mounts of at least 1.75 in, then the FX Crown magazine may not fit into the rifle and then you have to use the single shot adapter. This sucks BIG! Get taller scope mount will then mess up cheek weld and accuracy.

Need smaller magazine that will fit under scope easily!!!!

This gen 2 updated rifle in .22 caliber with the 500 mm. barrel just felt right for me from day one. I installed the new Hawk 4 x16 x44 compact scope with high rings, on the new style picatinny rail and have been shooting JSB 15.89 pellets. I know there are many adjustments, but I just shoot on Max. on the hammer wheel setting, and get unbelievable accuracy. I want to experiment in the near future with a lighter 13.43 JSB pellet and dial the gun back to 20 fpe and 820 fps, so I can use it in local Field Target Matches. Just purchased the new FX chronograph to make those adjustments. In the mean time, I enjoy hand holding and shooting standing up and love the feel of the high quality synthetic stock and smooth cocking lever. FX really takes the sport to a whole new level with Swiss quality and excellent customer support, should you need to call them in North Carolina.

Would like a better foam cut-out style case liner as an upgrade option, The egg carton style foam just doesn't do this rifle justice. Also, I would like to have the Donny FX moderator as an available option instead of the stock hollow FX moderator to quiet the gun even more. The FX instruction/maintance/how to adjust manual, is vague to say the least. I guess we are supposed to get the guns operation and adjustments information from other fellow FX owners, if we know some, or just figure it out on our own by watching 3rd party videos or reviews or calling FX USA.

This is what you would expect from Fx. I have a Wildcat 2 and I love it, but wanted the external adjustability of the Crown. When I took it out of the case I was almost shocked at how light and balanced it felt. Much lighter feel than my beloved Wildcat (.25). Great accuracy, fit and finish. It is backyard quiet.

It would be nice if it came with the 580cc carbon fiber bottle. Just kidding.
