Description
Another way that etched glass reticles are superior to wire reticles is when they're illuminated. Etched glass shows illumination only on the reticle and it looks like the reticle is floating. With wire reticles you often notice a reflection of the illumination in the objective lens, which can be distracting when shooting.
The Vantage scope is very lightweight and won't weigh you down like many other scopes that weigh almost a pound more! High-quality, high-definition optics don't have to be expensive to be good. The Vantage riflescope from Hawke Sport Optics combines many of the high-end features normally found in much pricier scopes.

This Hawke Sport Optics scope features an etched glass Mil Dot reticle. Etched glass is superior to a wire reticle because it's much more precise and offers easier target acquisition. The Mil Dot incorporates multiple aim points for both hold-over and hold-under, and the reticle offers 5 brightness levels of illumination in your choice of red or green. For a solid black reticle, simply turn off the illumination.

I works well on my AV Avenger. the lighted reticle is good for shooting against black or dark targets. Glass is Clear. Finish is good.
Things I Would Have Changedinside of battery cap should not have black coating - My reticle did not light up out of box. had to tighten and internal ring and remove some black coating to get electrons to flow. they must have done my 20-20$ QA job wo checking to see if reticle lights up :-( PA - i was sad about this... its not any where near as nice as the Nikon Prostaff on my 10/22 but it is a generally good airgun Optic.
What Others Should Knowan adequate scope. the light up reticle is a good thing to have for shooting black centered targets.
Good clarity I like the fact you can turn the turrets with your finger's rather digging for a coin as for the lighted etched reticle I didn't think I would have liked it but while squirrel hunting it was somewhat overcast and dark in the woods I tried the red and green and found the red worked for me.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowI put this scope on my FX Dreamline Classic .25
The scope sighted in great. At 30 yards I am getting 1/2 groups. The lighted radical is nice to.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowThe adjustment on the back of the scope is rather tight.
Easy to sight in holds zero .
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
clear view, mil dot rec.
Mildots work great for holdover. Elevation and windage adjustments without requiring a coin or screwdriver is nice.
What Others Should KnowI don't really think I needed the illuminated reticles although it's not bad to have the option. It might be handy in shadows or low light conditions. It just barely fit behind the rear peep on the Weihrauch HW30S rifle I purchased but I did not have to remove the iron sights to mount it. There is a ghost image of the front sight hood in the lower part of the scope field of view but this does not affect shooting for me. I am using the Mildots for holdover at very close ranges and this seems to work well. I intend to test multiple target distances and develop a holdover card using the mildots.
Decent glass, mil dots for fast holdover without adjusting any turrets, adjustable parallax.
Things I Would Have ChangedInstead of a lit reticle, they should just use fine crosshairs with the mil dots.
What Others Should KnowI used on a 22 LR firearm. Have been very happy with that application. The lit reticle works in low light, but just shows black in bright light.
Very clear optics even at maximum magnification. Well built with excellent fit and finish.
Things I Would Have ChangedHave a separate on/off switch for the illuminated rectical. You have to cycle through the various brightness settings to turn the illumination off.
What Others Should KnowOutstanding scope for the money. Rock solid and holds zero point. I mounted it on a 22 cal Benjamin Discovery and could not be happier. Don't know how much I'll use the illuminated cross hairs but it's there if I needn't want it.
Great scope. I like the etched glass recticle. My Beeman R1 is a wire recticle scope eater.
