Learn more about the SIG Sauer x-Five ASP in Tom Gaylord's Airgun Academy Blog.

Sig Sauer continues to improve on the design of pellet pistols for some of their most celebrated firearms. As part of this new standard for CO2 air pistols, SIG Sauer has created a 20rd belt fed CO2 version of the 226 X-Five ASP Pistol.

The 20rd magazine is where the X-Five ASP really shines through. This design allows for 20 semi-auto shots be to be taken before reloading while other pellet pistols use small capacity rotary mags that must be reloaded after every 6-8 shots. Once you load up your magazine and the CO2, you can shoot your pellets downrange at speeds up to 430 fps to shred paper targets and blast down soda cans. While designed for pellet shooting, you can also load up BBs. For even faster-paced shooting sessions, you can further customize the gun with lasers or flashlights mounted to its Weaver/Picatinny accessory rail.

With this many shots, this pistol is great for hours of plinking fun and a welcome addition for owners of the real steel SIG 226. If you like CO2 replicas with more shooting and less reloading, this is the air pistol you've been waiting for!

Things I liked:

The mag capacity.. with Co2 it starts to drop off after one mag. But give it a minute and it comes right back. Its a very quiet pistol. I love the ability to adjust sights completely.. very rare in a Co2 pistol. And it works good.. nice clicks for each adjustment. I can keep it accurate out to 40ft.. after that, not so much.

Things I would have changed:

The mag does have a tendency to jam.. Better design maybe..

What others should know:

If you load the belt in the mag with lithium grease it works fine, and just stays smooth.. after about 2 months I had to work some more into the belt.. no jams after that.

  • Chad from USA asked:

My mag keeps jamming, should I use gun oil or another lubricant on the belt? Should I just reign for a different model? Got 3, one for me, my fiance do we can practice together and one for my son to be mother in law to teach her bc she wanted a real firearm. What's the best way to load from those who have had success? Thanks in advance!

    • Matt from USA asked:

I purchased 1 of these about 6 months ago (silver variant), was firing both daisy powerline premium and crossman CO2 cartiridges. When I started, I had left over Sig Sauer wadcutters from my P320 which I had a catastrophic issue with and replaced with the x5 and though I got the occasional jam, I liked the x5, the large 20 shot clip without the 8 round and flip I had with my now non functioning 226 (gave it to the ms. when I got P320, lesson learned lol) but I quickly ran out of those and I am not sure if the issue is the pellets as I have tried gamo wadcutters, precision crossman wadcutters and regular and every other round I have which is quite the variety, though all bought frmo Bass proshop, IF, and that is a big IF, I get 1 round down range, the X5 instantly jams, no matter what, usually requires a wooden skewer to push the round back into the clip from the business end to even eject the clip after. Unfortuntely, I moved and had to throw away my original box so returning to the mfg is out, I think, but has anyone else experienced this problem or know a solution? I do manage a shot off here and there so the internals seem to be ok, is it just the ammo? Do I need Sig specific as the other brands are too large?? ANY help is appreciated
