The ability to choose between red or green.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe mount will not work with the pellet pistol I bought it for. It has a standard size rifle rail mount.
Great optic, I like the fact it has red or green and 5 different intensity settings for each.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowGreat dot sight, easy to attach and adjust.
I ask the folks at PyramydAir to recommend an optic for the Crosman Vigilante Revolver I was purchasing, they recommended this. I popped this on took one shot and saw it hit 4.5 inches down and .5 inch to the right. I stuck my laser boresighter in the barrel pointed at a wal 20 feet away and adjusted the green dot to be superimposed in the red dot of the laser and I proceeded to tear a big hole out of the black in the next 10 shots. I have to take this off every time I open the Vigilante to reload it. I quick release it back on and it is ready to go, with no loss of zero. Beats the old iron sights with these old eyes. Used in the basement in low light and outside in full on direct sunlight. great in both situations.
Things I Would Have Changedno issues yet, easy to use, easy to zero, easy to mount and un-mount.
What Others Should KnowMy son put it on his break barrel 25 cal Hatsan air rifle and he was able to clearly see the iron sights through this optic and the red dot at the same time.
This covers the barrel release on the Crosman Vigilante, so I normally use the quick release to remove the optic when I change pellet clips. Then I rapidly quick release it back on and it is still zeroed and back to accurately tearing up the target.
With my glasses it appears that the red dot is not a true dot but actually is more of a star or asterisk. This is an optical illusion. With the camera on my phone I was able to prove to myself that it was actually a perfect red or green dot. With my glasses I focus on the brightest part of the dot and hit what I aim at.
High quality QD dot sight with a dot size appropriate for short to mid-range shooting. The size of the viewing aperture is suitably large for fleeting targets as is the dot size. Flip open lens caps. I can't stand "bikini lens covers". I hate buying optics that feature them. UTG mostly avoids that nonsense in their products and provides high quality flip open caps WITH THE PRODUCT. Well done! The turret caps have a nice proud knurl on them so they are easy to access and the adjustments themselves have a nice definitive click when an adjustment is made. I have mine on a .177 caliber Sig MPX (mounted on a 1/2" QD riser) and it is absolutely fabulous. Set up this way it is possible to co-witness with the iron sights on the rifle and the QD means I can use either one depending on my mood.
Things I Would Have ChangedLike all UTG scopes it is relatively a little large and a little heavy. But within reason that is not necessarily a bad thing.
What Others Should KnowAn excellent value for the money as UTG products almost always are. Generally, if UTG quality is not good enough to suit you then you will have to pay 5-10x as much money to buy a meaningful difference in quality. You can buy something "different" for about 2x as much money but in total there will be very little difference in overall quality and usually that difference will be offset in the form of some cheap expedient like bikini lens covers instead of flip open lens caps. The dot size is a little large for bullseye shooting (typically 2-3 mil). This sight features a 5 mil dot, that is intentionally large for quick acquisition of fleeting targets. This sight is designed with a large aperture and large dot for fast shooting. If your purpose is bullseye shooting look for a longer dot sight with a smaller display dot (at 3-5x the price) because a 5 mil dot will completely obscure a bullseye of appropriate size and the lower cost sights don't have the necessary turret resolution.
The sight is mounted on a GAMO, 1300fps pellet gun. Having put some 250 rounds through the gun with this sight, it appears to handle the reverse G forces well up to this point. I was concerned about the clamping dove tail mount not holding on this gun but to date it has worked perfectly. As to the sighting in and remaining sighted, it has performed as advertised, no problems.
Things I Would Have ChangedAnything I would change would interfere with the basic design so I feel the sight is about where it should be in design.
What Others Should KnowI keep this pellet gun and other guns sighted at about 40 yards. So with this sight mounted, realize although the open sights are still mounted they are not usable without unmounting the dot sight. Storing the gun with the sight mounted may need some extra consideration as the sight stands about 2.5 inches high of the top of the barrel. I don't like bumping my sights once installed and sighted in so my easy access storage spot had to change.
Seems well made, the caps work well and seem solid. The adjustment screws have slots wide enough for a penny to fit, lol. No screwdriver needed here. It's nice having the choice of red or green, having no experience with these I would have picked a red dot, but I like the green better.
Things I Would Have Changednot much of anything, the dot disappears occasionally and I need to twist the power setting 1 click and back and it comes back on. The included batteries have only <1hr, but minor detail I have not yet looked into.
What Others Should KnowI don't like the single dot reticle. When you move the gun the dot can be anywhere in the reticle. You must center it in the lens while aiming.
I wish I gotten the t dot or even a circle dot reticle....
I now have purchased and used four different models of UTG Dot Sights and I am pleased with them all. I have found substantial improvement in my group sizes which I attribute to the fact that the single electronic dot removes the aiming error that frequently occurs when aligning the front sight in the notch of the rear sight. It is difficult sometimes to distinguish when the two are perfectly aligned, and each small variation from shot to shot causes an increase in group size. The single dot and target image simplifies the aiming sequence and removes one of the variables.
Things I Would Have ChangedI am 65 years old. I remember when we as a nation had really good "blue-collar" manufacturing jobs right at home. I miss the "MADE IN USA" production and the patriotic spirit of the buying public that once prevailed. Now it is "MADE IN CHINA" on nearly everything and the only alternative is to go without.
What Others Should KnowSight adjustments are reliable and true to the directional axis you are seeking. I am using all of my units on non recoiling guns. In those applications the mounts are steadfast and the zero is maintained without shift.
Easy easy easy....easy to mount, very easy to sight in, love the red green choice. Seems to hold well as after a week of shooting I can still get nickel sized groups with my Crosman Nitro Venom .22 cal.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowBuy it...you'll love it
Everything. What a nice red/green dot scope! Easy to sight in, keeps a good setting. Easy to mount!
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing...one of the best buys on a dot scope here!
