This concept was implemented by many cultures, including the ancient Romans, who used wooden swords to train their Gladiators. The only problem was that wooden training tools can rot, crack, chip or splinter and could not be used in all weather conditions. Cold Steels solution to these dilemmas was to design a line of synthetic polymer substitutes. Low in cost and unaffected by all but the most extreme temperatures, they are waterproof, weatherproof and astonishingly durable.

Pretty decently indexed, been learning techniques from YouTube.Its as if these sword were designed with learning in mind. Can't wait to spar with this. Definitely got a helmet this thing could Crack skulls.
This training sword is incredible with how nice it looks along with the durability to be able to spar and train with it without worrying about wood splintering or a less desirable plastic shattering. It certainly is within the Cold Steel tradition I know and love of being affordable and high quality without compromise.
Great for training, the weight gives the forearms a great pump when doing mobility exercises. Given, I don’t spare with it, only use it for mobility training and flow work
I bought this a while back and here is my take. Material: Great, holds up under a lot of abuse. Blade: Fine length for practice. Handle: Terrible for a sword meant for optional use with two hands - the handle is 9.5 inches long with the pommel being part of that length. If your hands are larger than a child's you cannot comfortable use two hands. The handle portion (not including pommel) should be at least 10 inches.
Bought one of these several years ago for training and sparring. It’s been great as a training tool, close to the real deal (if a bit thick in the blade). It’s stood up to use and abuse and come out strong. Saw some folks saying their blades had a bit of a curve to them - mine did not. It could be a bit tip-heavy to some, but being a bigger guy I don’t really notice it. My only criticism (and it’s barely that) is that the rubber collar that kept the guard fixed to the blade split (it took years to do it!), and I have been unable to get another from the company. Overall though, it’s a great piece and I’d recommend it.
Surprisingly sturdy and satisfying to wield, this training sword exceeded my expectations. The handle texture is just right, and the pommel is a great shape. There is minimal flex to the blade, and the removable cross guard stays in place well via the thick rubber collar. A great value.
My mom got my brother and I this epic sword for Christmas back in 2014. The swords never broke, bruised, or brandished. We would go for hours at a time, day and night. If there was anything I wish I kept when I enlisted, it was this. I can tell you that to this day, if I had it still I’d gladly be swinging it at anything and everything. Best dãmn investment my mom ever made.
(Only downside is that the plastic or fiberglass coating would scratch against concrete or rocks,
I've had mine about 8 or so years and I'm use it about weekly. It still holds up! Taken some punishment but overall in great shape.
I bought one for my son and I for outdoor sparing and they have taking a beating! If they should ever break I will be buying a second!
