The FX Maverick Compact Air Rifle is the newest entry in the FX lineup, and it again breaks the mold of what's possible in an airgun. FX has designed this line of air rifles to excel when shooting all ammo, but particularly heavier slugs and pellets.
This Compact version is lighter and more maneuverable than the larger models of Mavericks, while still retaining the same advantages and revolutionary features.
The two most important innovations on this air rifle are the dual AMP regulators and the increased plenum size. Because the pressure is controlled in two steps, the dual regulators yield a low extreme spread, meaning that each shot is more consistent and velocities fall within a smaller range.
The 89cc power plenum is the largest ever included on an FX airgun, which translates to shots that are more powerful than ever.
The body of this airgun features a supremely functional tactical look and feel that furthers the goal of adjustability by allowing for modification with aftermarket parts, if desired. The Picatinny optics rail features a 20 MOA angle to enhance long-range shooting, and there are three Picatinny accessory rails for items such as bipods, lights, and lasers.
The performance of the new technology found on this air rifle is made possible by the same features that power other FX airguns, such as the rear power adjuster that allows for macro adjustments with 7 presets on the knob, and further refinement via the hex bolt in the 8th adjuster hole.
In addition, the air rifle includes other renowned features such as the Superior Smooth Twist X (STX) barrel and liner system, 2-stage adjustable trigger, dual manometers, and more.

It's very accurate, and it's short for woods walking.
Things I Would Have ChangedQuality control. The safety didn't work when I got it. I should've sent it back, but I already waited 4 months on back order. So I fixed it myself. The barrel liner had 1 broken o ring on it. Not 3, and it was broken! The regs were both set to 150. What's the point of 2 regs if they're both the same? A rifle this expensive should be ready to shoot out the box.
What Others Should KnowIt's ok, but it's not any better than some 800 dollar rifles out there.
Typical FX ease of use. My handicapped friend is able to operate this platform despite some physical limitations.
Things I Would Have ChangedOnly concern is durability. Frequency of repair or maintanance.

I like this whole package. This thing is assembled very well. I like the top-shelf machining: fit & finish is excellent. It's light and short. It has been very easy to adapt it to my shooting needs, environment and skillset. I like that the 300cc tank lasts forever! I typically shoot from 12-70 yds, targets & game - its freaky accurate within those distances from first to last shot on the reg, I like that. I like that it's quiet. I like that you can hear when it's regulator system is working correctly. It took me a while to set up the regulators, but I could hear the report change when it "came on the pipe"'. I've never experienced that before and I like that too. The trigger is clean & crisp, very likeable! I like hearing the quiet hiss of airflow through the gun after a shot. And I like knowing I spent my money on a great product. I think this dual regulator thing could be a game changer
Things I Would Have ChangedThe heavily angled "plasticy" AR grip is the first thing I would change. The shooting quality of this gun demands a better (vertical?) grip. I would change to a better regulator set-up outline in the instructions. There is a genius double regular system but it is confusing at first to set-up. Set properly it works soooo well. FX needs to make this extraordinary feature and set-up easier to comprehend in the manual. I would change it's name: I'd like to call this something other than "Maverick" Something less bovine/automotive. Maybe FX2R, numbers & letters always work better for cool stuff like this.
What Others Should KnowYES ... GET ONE! I never thought an air gun could be this good. I own a few high-end airguns - this is my first FX - and this gun excels a couple of my other units.
I have the thing on #3 for power on FX 15.9g pellets I am getting unbelievable shot counts/FPE for .22 - in ragged one hole groups, from 12 to 34yds (I need a better scope and some tune time for 34-70yds). BUT, 12-34yds is why I bought this gun. The trip from 34-70 yds will be just that much more than I anticipated.

Very fine air rifle. Not at all pellet picky. This one seems to prefer the heavier .177 pellets. Added a DonnyFL KOI suppressor to make it whisper quiet.
Things I Would Have ChangedLooking for a way to mount a sling if possible.
What Others Should KnowTo be fair. This is the second FX Maverick that I'm reviewing. The first one had an air leak and was returned. Great help from Pyramyd Air to get this resolved. Turn around time was 5 days.
