The Crosman 2240XL delivers the same quality and enjoyment that the standard 2240 offers but with some very intriguing upgrades! The 2240 has historically been a favorite among the modders and tinkerers in the airgun community, thanks to a lot of aftermarket parts and support offered by the New York based manufacturer. Embracing that, Crosman now offers the 2240XL, featuring two key upgrades over the original.
The first upgrade is the inclusion of the steel breech. Featuring an 11mm dovetail for mounting optics, the steel breech offers more rigidity for the barrel. It can also accomodate the LPA MIM rear sight, though there is no provision for a front sight out of the box. Upgrade number two can be found at the end of the rifled steel barrel. A threaded end cap, with 1/2"x20 threading to allow the addition of a moderator or custom muzzle brake to be fitted. This comes with a plastic thread protector to keep your threads from being damaged when not in use.
The rest of the 2240XL matches up with the classic version. Velocities up to 460 fps from a single 12 gram CO2 cartridge, delivering up to 60 shots per cartridge. A genuine pleasure to shoot, the smooth bolt action is easy to operate. With solid performance and important upgrades, the 2240XL deserves a place in your air pistol arsenal.

This pistol has the Crosman steel breech as well as a muzzle adapter for less than converting your OEM 2240 yourself.
Things I would have changed:It'd be awesome if it had a front sight installed, because I really like the LPA mim rear sight on my Crosman pistols.
What others should know:The 2240 is the only co2 gun that I shoot regularly, because it's extremely accurate and hits very hard compared to other co2 pistols. I would not hesitate to take a squirrel with it at closer ranges out to 15 or maybe 20 yards with no upgrades. It's really nice to shoot after a very simple trigger tune.

Metal breech, trigger, fits my hand, good balance, 50 strong shots per fill, threaded barrel, options galore, fair price.
Things I would have changed:Enlarge the cocking ball, maybe make it a bit longer and more ergonomic.
What others should know:It’s a true classic. 22 caliber, hits hard, very accurate even for an old guy like me. The trigger is firm but smooth, about 4 pounds. I also have an upgraded 2240 with a much lighter pull. Both are excellent. Save your money for a red dot, learn to love the factory set. I use a variety of pellets. All weights work well, maybe I give the edge to the heavier ones. I drilled a squirrel at 30 feet. It dropped like a stone. I’d suggest buying this XL from Pyramyd. Good company, good support when you need it.

where is an aftermarket front sight kit for the 2240xl available? I saw mention of am additiv sight kit, but cant find it on internet.

Is the shoulder stock able to fit on this 2240 XL version as the basic 2240? Just curious if hand grip mount screws are in same position ?
Yes., fits great .
can you shoot pellets with this gun
Yes,. I have the 2240 type and used many types of pellets including non-lead .22 and occasionally Gamo rounds lead .22 ammo. Have even tried regular bird shot from a shotgun shell using a used Skenko .22 polymer sleeve with about 8-10 of the small lead glued with wax on tip. Seem to work fine for an improvised home made ammo to simulate a shot shell blast at close range (10-15 feet) but i dont recommend doing this unless you have proper eye protection , back stop etc.

Very well balanced, accurate, hard hitting, excellent finish
Things I would have changed:Nothing
What others should know:I purchased this along with the Crosman shoulder stock. Will be using this primarily indoors during the winter. The only downside is shooting it outside in 50 degree weather I am only getting 35 good shots per capsule. I guess this is expected. Mike
