The Daisy 753s is reliable and accurate along with great durability. A great performer for young and old alike. Ordering is easy and everyone was very helpful.
What Others Should KnowOur club purchased 14 of these to use in exhibition target contests. These replaced old Daisy 853c models after 20+ years of heavy use.
I would recommend this single shot target rifle for everyday use and as a competition rifle.
The air rifle is very accurate and we are able to help our 4H kids dial in the sights. This gives the kids so much confidence in their shooting abilities.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
One hole groups at ten meters, not pellet picky.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing.
Very accurate and consistent. Light. Sights are very good for being plastic.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing. The trigger isn't great. Smooth but completely vague, you cannot feel the sear. However, good triggers are expensive, and this thing is dirt cheap, which I wouldn't change. Plus bad triggers teach you trigger discipline and I use this to practice for my real rifles.
What Others Should KnowI have drilled cans at 50 meters with this thing. At that range you're lobbing the pellets, but there's enough elevation in the sights for it.
Closest thing i could find to the old Avanti 853c.
Things I Would Have Changedi liked the option of the 5 shot clip on the old Avanti 853c, sadly this is single shot only.
What Others Should Knowno C02 required, single action hand pump. good for killing giant rats and vermin if you don't want to go through the process of owning a real firearm.
Very good value for the money. Accurate. Relatively low effort to pump.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe trigger. Almost everyone will mention this: do not expect a crisp trigger without investing some effort. The instructions are on the Pyramyd site and several other places. Mine is reasonably smooth, but it has a long travel, and is heavy for a target rifle. My Henry lever rifle, which is intended as a plinker, has a much better trigger.
Size: I used both of the provided stock extensions and the length of pull was about perfect for me. Weight: Very good. Not too light, not too heavy. Sights: For the price of this gun, they are very good. Accuracy: Excellent. Better than I expected for a gun of this price.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing. Any changes I would wish for would drive the price up. If you want more bells and whistles like milled sights or adjustable weights, you'll have to spend the money (a lot more money) to buy one of the many top of the line match rifles out there. I wasn't going to do that and this fine gun satisfies my needs. I do not shoot competitively.
What Others Should KnowI am 5ft.9in. tall. 150 lbs. Avg. build. Larger folks may want to source additional stock extensions.
I found the Qiang Yuan 'Training Grade' .177cal. 8.2grain pellets to be extremely accurate in this gun. PyramydAir's 'buy 3 get one free' deal is well worth taking advantage of.
I don't have 10 meters to shoot in my basement so I'm using about 8.7m.
I'm getting older. Close vision isn't what it used to be. Open sights are a challenge lately. A scope is what I need now. I have a RWS and a Beeman both with scopes. They do ok. This new 753 puts them to shame. It doesn't shoot as fast, but the accuracy is astounding ! Easily shoot in same hole at 10 yards all day long. Worth every penny and more. The gun appears to be extremely well made too.
Things I Would Have ChangedGetting the pellet in correctly with a scope is a bit difficult. Trigger could be a bit better.
What Others Should KnowGo buy one. Tons of fun for cheap.
Very well made fun. Amazing accuracy with a scope. Great value.
Things I Would Have ChangedTrigger could be a little better.

I own one of these purchased thru the CMP program at my club. it is excellent to shoot. i use a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on it with an 11mm rail adaptor and a barrel weight ithout the globe sight. (i did this with my 499b too) it works very well. loading pellets in the tiny breech is a PITA but .177 Gamo round lead balls shoot very well out ot it too and drop in and load easily. this is a "real" target gun. Scot
Things I Would Have Changedit would be nice if the loading port accepted a maple custom products rotary magazine or their single shot flip up loading tray. i use these maple custom products on my AV avenger and they are great. could the receiver be CNC milled to accept a rotary magazine ?
