Description

With big power in a small package, Hatsan enters the fray of affordable PCPs with the Hatsan Flashpup, a compact and highly-maneuverable version of the full-sized Flash PCP Air Rifle.

The Flash PCP platform strikes just in time to take advantage of a slew of accessible PCPs that don’t skip on quality features and accessories.  Powered by a fixed 165cc volume aluminum air cylinder with a 200 BAR fill pressure (2,900psi), the Flashpup slings its rounds at speeds up to 1150, 1000, and 900 fps in its .177, .22, and .25 calibers, respectively.  This power corresponds to a delivery of 29 foot-pounds of energy in .177 cal., 38 fpe in .22 and 40 fpe in .25 caliber.

The powerplant is set into a finely grained ambidextrous hardwood stock that includes a pistol grip and adjustable cheekpiece to ensure proper eye relief and a comfortable hold.  Resting under the foregrip is a Weaver/Picatinny accessory rail for mounting a bipod, and a combination Weaver/Dovetail mount is ready for the optics system of your choice.

The Flashpup features Hatsan’s celebrated 2-stage fully adjustable match Quattro trigger system, ensuring your trigger pulls are to your preference and break clean and smooth.  Each caliber includes a single shot tray and two indexing magazines so you can spend less time reloading and more time taking shot after shot.  Taking advantage of Hatsan’s QuietEnergy (QE) system, the Flashpup uses a fully-moderated barrel to quiets your shots, making it an ideal backyard target shooter and small game hunter.

Hatsan enters the affordable PCP market with a bullpup that provides the same quality features and design of higher-end PCPs.  If you’re ready for a highly mobile, backyard-friendly shooter that goes anywhere you can, bolt for that buy button and make the Flashpup yours!

Love the adjustable trigger and the compact design

I would add the hammer adjustment on the outside that way you can dial in power for different situations quicker.

My only complaint was that I received 2 different magazines. One was for my 25 I order and the other was for a 22. Customer service said they would sent another 25 magazine but still haven't received. This kinda made me second guess another purchase because I might not get everything as described.

Follow up on magazine.....I did receive correct one and it works flawlessly. Customer service did as they said they would and now I'm looking forward to next purchase. Thank you

It's very accurate and easy to use.

Forget the wood stock and go with the plastic one. It's pretty until you hold it. You can damage the wood by lightly pressing your fingernail into it its so soft. I put a coat of polyurethane on mine which has helped a little but not much.

Pyramydair sold me a 3 year old model. The air tanks have a 10 year shelf life. I was pretty annoyed about that. If this was a more expensive airgun I would have been pretty mad.

My first experience buying from them. I'll try buying pellets from them and see how that goes but I can't see purchasing another airgun in the future.

I like it for its light weight and accuracy. I have only got to shoot one so far but I like the way it handles and it don't take long to fill it back up. After doing a little tuning it's powerful.it will work very good for what I bought it for.

It's not a deal breaker but it would be nice if it had a side swing out bolt like the synthetic has.

If you want a short light weight gun that's got enough power for critters you won't go wrong with this gun. I got the 25 cal .may get the 22 cal later on.

Build quality, power and accuracy are all fantastic. Incredibly easy to hold steady due to the compact design. Very happy I ordered the 10 shots for $10 especially after getting screwed by Amazon who sold 2 used defective guns as new. Lesson learned.

The 22 cal is louder than I thought it would be out of the box but it was shooting just under the speed of sound, tuned it down and it's quieter now. The magazine wobbles when it's installed but just being picky.

Get the 10 for 10, well worth it. This thing packs a heck of a punch.

Oh wow, where to begin! I'm NO stranger to projectile weapons, owning everything from flintlocks to precision rifles. I'm VERY IMPRESSED with my Flashpup! Fit & finish are great, balance is flawless, accuracy is, for an airgun, superb (compared to my Anschutz 1847 Fortner bolt Biathlon rifle, which gets one hole in the paper at 50M, it's not as accurate). At 50M, I can expect a 3/4 inch group, maybe a little better depending on the charge. When you compare the Flashpup to the Anschutz, the 1847 cost almost $4,000, and the Flashpup is not quite as accurate. IF you cut the distance in half, I'd say, as a competition shooter for years, yes, it's in the ballpark. Not quite as accurate, but the Flashpup will hold her own! In terms of quality, the trigger on the Flashpup is comparable to my Anschutz, the wood stock is fantastic, balance is superb, accuracy is great, the gun's quiet and a joy to shoot. If you're thinking of getting one, DO IT!!

I'd lose the bipod rail, and add some studs for a sling. Also extend the bolt handle and make it a little larger, along with adding spacers to extend the stock, to change the LOP. It's a little short for me.

If you're thinking of getting one, I wouldn't hesitate! Great little bullpup design, accurate as all get-out, and it can be filled with a floor pump. it's a workout for an old guy like me (74), but it sure does fill!

Looks Feel

This gun is very dangerous. The gun I got from this site will randomly fire as I push a pellet forward with the bolt. that's with safety engaged.

Andrew Nov 21, 2023

THIS IS A REAL DANGER and very important. If you do not pull the bolt fully back, to ensure that the sear securely engages the hammer, then there is a risk of allowing the hammer to fall forward and strike the air valve unintentionally and release a partially charged shot. I learned this dangerous lesson the hard way when I was a bit careless and wasn't holding the bolt handle securely enough. While I was cocking the bolt handle backward, the bolt handle slipped from my fingers while under spring tension from the hammer spring of course, and the bolt sprung forward allowing the hammer to strike the air valve, firing a shot into the wall of my house. Luckily nothing significant was damaged and nobody was injured. If I had given any thought to this possibility or had been made aware (no warnings regarding this danger provided in the instruction manual) I would have been much more cautious when cocking the bolt. ALWAYS point the gun in safe direction while cocking it.

I was super impressed with the feel of this little rifle. Despite it feeling like a sturdy, solid chunk of wood, most of the weight sits on your shoulder. It's light as a feather up front and feels phenomenal in the hands. As for the fit and finish, the wood is quite soft, so the finish is going to very easily scratch and scuff. There were a few places where the stock could have used some touchups before being sent out by Hatsan, like sloppy gluing around the buttpad and poor sanding around the wooden trigger guard. Overall, for the price, the finish was totally fine by me. Looks sharp and feels great in the hands. Very quiet, too. It's absolutely backyard friendly, and it's hand pump friendly as well. Using a hand pump to take it from the yellow back into the green only took five minutes or so. One other thing - the pressure gauge is readable from the side of the gun. This is smart design, because nothing makes a gun guy queasier than staring down a barrel. The trigger was stellar!

The placement of the bolt is terrible, and the two FlashPups I went through were very stiff. The first felt like someone had poured a cup of sand in the internals and threw it in the box. I'm sure it would have cleaned up just fine, but I didn't want to chance voiding the warranty in the first few days before any major problems might have showed up. The fill port has a small plug that's used to keep dust and debris from getting in the tank, but it's a cheap plastic dowel with an o-ring in the center. It is not attached to the gun, and it would be easy to lose. You'll also need an adapter to connect your pump to the gun. Note that the Hatsan fill probe is NOT NPT threaded. PA has an AirVenturi adapter available (currently), or find one elsewhere. It's a 1/8" BSPP Female to 8mm Male QD. The rifle desperately needs sling swivels. I'd like to see it regulated. These also desperately need some quality control with their barrels and/or optics rails, but more on that below.

I went through two of these. The first was stacking even the Crosman Premiere HPs at ~20yd from a bench rest. Some heavier H&N Barracudas performed even better. Trouble was, with an optically centered scope at that distance, I was hitting 5.5" to the right. I ran out of adjustment on two scopes trying to get it zeroed. Big disappointment, because the trigger on it was right up there with a custom match trigger I have in my .308. That FlashPup was returned, and the second one arrived a week later. The action was much smoother, but the trigger was mushy. PA also neglected to do the 10-for-10 test on it that I'd paid for on the first one. This one was hitting only 3.5" right at ~20yd, and it took a full 1 1/4 rotations on the windage turret of my Hawke to get it to zero. Unfortunately, while it was fairly accurate, it was not precise. The 21gr Barracudas performed best out of it with a 1" group at 20 yards from the bench. 5 MOA makes this a plinker, but not a dependable hunting setup.

Just another comment regarding shooting precision and ammo. From the PyramydAir webpage for "ZAN Projectiles Hollowpoint Slugs in .253 diameter and 38 grain are swaged slugs made especially for airguns like the Leshiy, Huben, and similar airguns that require larger diameter projectiles for proper functioning." There are definitely other issues with these rifles from box, but they are easily dealt with and afterwards you end up with a stellar, streamlined, great-looking bullpup at a very affordable price point. I left a long comment on a Brothers-In-Air video on YouTube in which I explained the minor modifications that I made to my first Hatsan Flashpup 25cal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXkJoWaSDKE&t=3s . You may want to take a look at that also. Originally used a 3-stage hand pump, but with a body weight of only 160lbs, it gets quite difficult to find the muscle required when it gets close to the max pressure fill, so I switched to a LiPo battery-powered 4500psi pump & love it.

Own several of these Hatsun Flashpups, 2 in 25cal and 1 in 22cal. Regarding poor shooting precision, Huben is oversizing the bore of the barrels on these 25cal Flashpup's. I push the end cone of a large ball-point pen into the rear of the pellet's skirts to flare them outward, effectively increasing the skirt diameter which allows the pellets to fit tighter in the barrel, and that creates a better air seal and engages the rifling more consistently. Originally I was shooting 1.25" groups at 20yd, and after resizing the pellets I achieved 1" groups at 50yd. I used both the H&N Baracuda Round Nose 30.86gr and the H&N Hornet 22.07gr pellets with equivalent results. I often have to eradicate armadillos that dig trenches in my front-yard garden beds, and the sharp brass-tipped H&N Hornets are the only ammo that can pierce their armored skin. May also want to try original (aka. Mark I) JSB Exact King Heavy Domed 33.95gr which have a larger 7.0mm (.27in) pellet skirt diameter.

I waited to do the review so I can test the gun. It's a .177cal and its a great little gun very accurate with JSB Exact Beast Diabolo 16.20 gr. It's shoots the JSB Hades 10.34 gr pretty good but not like the Beast. I get 4 magazines out of one tank of air so about 56 shots not bad.

Nothing

Great gun for the price.
