The Benjamin Marauder Semi-Auto PCP Air Rifle with synthetic stock is an eagerly-awaited additional option for the well-received SAM, the semi-automatic version of their top-of-the-line air rifle. It's designed from Benjamin's popular Field and Target platform, and although it bears a strong resemblance to the classic Marauder airguns, it has a brand new interior with enhanced parts that enable semi-auto functionality.

This new version features a synthetic stock that weighs less than the hardwood stock version, while maintaining the same reliable operation and features. The air rifle's 10-shot magazine was designed with the goal of nearly consistently avoiding jams, and the SAM includes a regulator that yields stable velocities across large shot strings, plus a hammer spring adjustment screw that adjusts the power level.

Testing reveals that the average shooter can expect a cyclic rate of about 300 rounds per minute, depending on how fast they can pull the trigger, which makes for fast follow-up shots. The air rifle comes set from the factory at a power level that yields about 50-60 shots at approximately 900 FPS and 22 FPE, but is capable of 30-40 shots at up to 950 FPS and 28 FPE at maximum power.

The fully-shrouded barrel produces shots that are quieter than expected, and the rubber recoil pad provides a comfortable hold. The Picatinny optics rail easily accommodates a scope, and the adjustable trigger aids accuracy.

From target practice, to small-game hunting, to plinking cans for fun, this airgun delivers the premium features and solid build shooters need. For accurate and reliable semi-automatic functionality, in addition to adjustable power, get the Benjamin Marauder Semi-Auto Air Rifle with synthetic stock from Pyramyd AIR today.

Things I liked:

I have about 4000 rounds through this thing. 3 jams and all of them when the tank pressure was getting low. I am getting about 80 shots to a fill and accuracy is very good but not quite as good as the original bolt Marauder probably due to the long trigger pull that takes a bit to get used too, Fun factor of the semi-auto is off the charts, I hardly ever use my other 3 PCP's since I got this thing.

Things I would have changed:

Shorten the trigger pull and make it lighter. Maybe offer 3 shot burst mode?

What others should know:

If you buy one of these you will triple your pellet consumption as everyone that sees it wants to try it out.

Things I liked:

The people at Pyramid Air were helpful. I had to return the original LEMON I received, after one week! I bought this rifle based on the good reviews & accuracy ratings (Bots, or 2 duds?). I was pleased for about the first 60-100 shots. Then the jamming began! The magazine is NOT at all reliable. I'm sure future modifications will resolve the issue, but for now it makes the gun woefully unpredictable. I have had to wrestle the magazine out more then once. After a jam the weapon takes a long time to recover. The lack of a "hold open" on the bolt makes loading and clearing a jam VERY difficult. When the weapon operates properly, it is magnificent. The accuracy with the diablo jumbo exact 18.13 grain pellets seems best. When the thing works I experienced many more issues with the 14 gram pellets. The exchanged, remanufactured replacement is only marginally better. I had expected a long life of plinking with this gun. It looks like I will have to look elsewhere for that.

Things I would have changed:

I would have purchased a better gun! 1. A reliable magazine design. Crossman NEEDS to resolve the feed issues. I never know if I'm going to make a shot or face another jam! 2. Bolt hold open 3. Better information from the manufacturer about maintenance/ operation. It is possible that the magazine issue has everything to do with the way I am using it. 4. Overall fit and finish is NOT as expected. Quality control is lacking from Crossman

What others should know:

I tried to downgrade my initial "Value for the money" to a two star. The rating system would not allow it! The rifle IS accurate When it works!! At a few weeks old, and a replacement already, it looks very doubtful! For a rifle of this price, I feel that other manufacturers probably make a more reliable/ better value unit. I am VERY disappointed with Crossman with this weapon! I have a Bull dog as well. That weapon operates quite reliably. My only issue there is with the 350 grain slugs that were "specially" made for the .457, they won't even feed through the magazine!! Maybe someone at Crossman should ACTUALLY operate the product prior to making it available. My faith in the previous reputation for Crossman quality is dashed!! Buyer BEWARE! The people at Pyramid have been helpful so far. I'm very concerned about the longevity of this rather expensive rock I bought! The Ford Edsel of air guns?

Things I liked:

It shoots most of the time when I pull the trigger.

Things I would have changed:

I would use a different magazine so you didn't blow the breach seal on the 11th shot. I would use a different barrel so you could hit the same spot twice. I would use a different action so it would feed reliable. I would use a different bolt so that I didn't need a 3rd hand to cock it off a bench.

What others should know:

I use hawk scopes. I have a marauder field and target, and an fx maverick. This semi auto is JUNK. it's not even good for plinking at 25 yards. You have to clean it every 100 shots or it gets even worse. I've never seen a rifle get so dirty. I even tried the Crossman copper pellets. They feed something awful, and still fowl the barrel. If you buy this rifle the parts you enjoy mist should be loading pellets, cleaning rifles, and missing your target.
