Lay down a shower of lead with the Diana Stormrider!

Since 1892, Diana has produced high-quality airguns that are as reliable as they are accurate. While the Stormrider may not be their first PCP, it’s certainly the most budget-friendly. With a straightforward, no-frills design, the Stormrider’s combination of repeating shots and great features make it a serious contender for one of the best entry-level PCPs.

The first thing you’ll notice is the quality of the German beech stock. It’s sturdy and contoured with checkering on the grip and forend. With a thickness of 1.5 inches wide and a total weight of 5lbs, the Stormrider is easy to handle for shooters young and old.

Hands down, the best feature of this Diana is its repeating shots. Simply load up the rotary magazine and slide it into the breech which secures it into place magnetically. With 9 shots in .177 and 7 in .22, cycle to a new round with a quick flick of the bolt action. Once you charge up the 200 BAR (2900 psi) cylinder, you can send rounds downrange at 1,050 fps (.177) and 900 fps (.22). Additionally, if you want to shoot one shot at a time, a single-shot tray is included. It also includes open sights with a fully adjustable rear sight and an 11mm dovetail for mounting your own optics.

If you’ve wanted your own PCP airgun but the price has held you back, the Stormrider gives you a budget-friendly PCP design that lives up to the Diana name.

Tech Tip: For Gen 1. models, the front and rear sights are removable. It may be necessary to remove the rear sight when mounting an optic longer than 10".  On Gen. 2 models, the rear sight is still removable.

Please note: Gen. 2 Stormrider packages incorrectly list the overall length as 38.5" while the correct overall length is 40.5" for this version due to the longer moderator. The correct overall length for the Gen. 1 Stormrider is 38.5".

Things I liked: The size/weight and the fact it's all metal and wood. The stock I ended up with has nice figuring. It has turned out to be a very accurate platform. The gen 2 adjustable trigger can be set to produce a very nice 2-stage pull with a predictable and clean break. I use the rifle for hunting so prefer a heavier pull, I was able to adjust it be exactly how I want it. This feature by itself justifies the price difference between the gen1 and gen2 versions.

Things I would have changed: Diana needs to improve the QC, include an additional barrel band with the gun, make it possible to easily remove the LDC and front sight. Make sure all the burrs are removed and the o-rings are in good shape. Use LESS of the nasty preservative oil when prepping the gun for shipment, better yet, put it in a plastic bag with a desiccant pack. The magazine needs to be redesigned to fit the breech tighter, the loose fit contributes to problems with certain pellets. I added copper tape to mine which improved the fit and eliminated jamming I experienced with H&N Hunter Xtreme pellets

What others should know: This gun makes a really good hunting rig once you've dealt with the QC issues it will most likely have when you receive it. The first one I received leaked from several places and was slathered in the preservative oil, so I returned it for a replacement. The second one also leaked but was in much better shape so I decided to accept it a deal with the leak(s). I'm very glad I did, this is an accurate gun that's easy to hand pump and can produce a lot of power (stock it shot 14.3gr CPHPs at over 900fps). I added a regulator and adjusted it to produce 600fps with 18.52gr H&N Hunter Xtremes. I also added an additional barrel band which I believe contributed to its really good accuracy.

  • gabe from USA asked:

Dose it come with the pump

  • pelletman from USA asked:

YES DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO TUNE OR ADJUST THE POWER ON THIS GUN ?? I THINK THE 177 CAL WOULD SHOOT MORE ACCURATE @ ABOUT 900-975 FPS

    • Tyler from USA:

There are a few methods to achieve this. You could alter the size of the transfer port or reduce the hammer spring.

  • dcttrt from USA asked:

does location of second barrel band on Diana Stormrider matter?

    • Tyler from USA:

To find out, you would need to test it in various locations. Though, it may not be the same from gun to gun. Some may find one position works better for their gun while others will find another. It's really something you need to test for yourself
