Diana Stormrider Multi-shot PCP Air Rifle
Please note: The Gen1 Stormrider has a shorter muzzle brake than the Gen2. The Gen1 is rated for a sound level of 3/5. The Gen2 is rated as a 2/5.
Lay down a shower of lead with the Diana Stormrider!
Since 1892, Diana has produced high-quality airguns that are as reliable as they are accurate. While the Stormrider may not be their first PCP, it’s certainly the most budget-friendly. With a straightforward, no-frills design, the Stormrider’s combination of repeating shots and great features make it a serious contender for one of the best entry-level PCPs.
The first thing you’ll notice is the quality of the German beech stock. It’s sturdy and contoured with checkering on the grip and forend. With a thickness of 1.5 inches wide and a total weight of 5lbs, the Stormrider is easy to handle for shooters young and old.
Hands down, the best feature of this Diana is its repeating shots. Simply load up the rotary magazine and slide it into the breech which secures it into place magnetically. With 9 shots in .177 and 7 in .22, cycle to a new round with a quick flick of the bolt action. Once you charge up the 200 BAR (2900 psi) cylinder, you can send rounds downrange at 1,050 fps (.177) and 900 fps (.22). Additionally, if you want to shoot one shot at a time, a single-shot tray is included. It also includes open sights with a fully adjustable rear sight and an 11mm dovetail for mounting your own optics.
If you’ve wanted your own PCP airgun but the price has held you back, the Stormrider gives you a budget-friendly PCP design that lives up to the Diana name.
Tech Tip: For Gen 1. models, the front and rear sights are removable. It may be necessary to remove the rear sight when mounting an optic longer than 10". On Gen. 2 models, the rear sight is still removable.
Please note: Gen. 2 Stormrider packages incorrectly list the overall length as 38.5" while the correct overall length is 40.5" for this version due to the longer moderator. The correct overall length for the Gen. 1 Stormrider is 38.5".

The looks of the Stormrider is classic, the wood stock has a nice grain, finish and the checkering is precise. The gun is much lighter and compact than I thought it would be. I am used to a very heavy Beeman springer so this is refreshing. It shoulders well and has good sight lines. I did not try the open sights as I had a Simmons 3x9 scope ready to go. The gun was well protected in the box with dense foam cut out in the shape of the gun, could be used in a case. As for accuracy, I was able to get on the bullseye quickly after making scope adjustments. I am using JSB RS and Crosman hollow point dome, 14.3 gr, groupings are very tight, about 1/2" at 30 yds. The 2 stage trigger is quite good as well.
Things I would have changed:I measured the gap between the air chamber and the barrel, it is .170" at the breech and .170" at the barrel band, it droops ever so slightly at the air fill to .165". Diana should include a second barrel band to stop any droop issues over time. I will be adding one if they are ever back in stock. The cocking is a little stiffer than I would like but not terrible. It would be nice if they provided an air fill plug to keep dirt out. Otherwise I have no complaints.
What others should know:I have about 500 rds through it now with the two brands of pellets noted. I have not experienced one jam with the rotary clip like people have noted in other reviews. My backyard range only goes out to 30 yds so I have not shot further than that yet. The Stormrider is surprisingly accurate at this distance, any shot more than 1/2" outside the group is me not the gun. I also live in a tract neighborhood and shoot in my backyard, this gen 2 version is VERY quiet. I use a cheap hand pump off Ebay and takes about 60 pumps (very easy) to get it to 20 bar, 3,000 psi. It held the exact same pressure for several days so no leaks, and I get roughly 35 shots before refill. I am quite happy with this gun so far, hope it has some longevity.

Things I would have changed:Some sort of quality control.
What others should know:Purchased this rifle and a few cans of pellets as a Christmas gift. The rifle had an air leak. Rather than return and wait for them to process it and send a replacement, I returned it for a refund and purchased a second one at the same time. When the second rifle arrived, it too leaked air. I decided to just return everything. When I called to set up the return, not only did they not apologize for sending me two defective guns, but they also informed me that technically it was my responsibility to pay return shipping on the pellets because they were not defective, but as a "courtesy " they were covering it. Gave me a good laugh but .......wow!

How do I remove the moderator on my gen 2 stormrider so I can do a barrel replacement? There is no set screw, and some diagrams I've seen seem to indicate that it is threaded on. If it's threaded, it sure doesn't turn easy.
What size is the breech seal o- ring that fits in the end of the barrel?
i fill the gun with 200 bars but the pressure reduces to 150 bar after 2 weeks and maybe 100 bars after a month. Is there a leak?
To fill your PCP gun:
1.Pick a source of air shown at right
2.If an adapter is needed, one will be shown
3.Add both to your cart to get hooked up

Nicely finished, checkered stock, compact (40") and very light weight (<5lb) for a PCP. Magazines and shot tray are aluminum with magnets to help hold them in place. Open sights are well placed, easy to align and were dead on out of the box. Quieter than a pumper in the same caliber.
Things I would have changed:Fill port has no cover, open to elements, dirt, whatever. Easy enough to purchase or make a plug though. Magazines are expensive.
What others should know:There is an aftermarket regulator available that can increase it's shot count by 50% or better, and swapping the factory fill port for the style used on the Bandit, which includes a manometer, also provides a rotating cover for the fill port.
