There is almost nothing to dislike. It shoots hard (417 fps avg with steel; 360 fps with Excite CC lead), it shoots TIGHT, TIGHT groups. it hits right to the point of aim (top of the front sight level with the top of the rear and that is where the BB's land consistently from 6 to 10 yards shooting standing, weaver stance!) The trigger is somewhat heavy but the travel is very short and the break as clean as a glass rod and it is the same for every pull. The slide travel on recoil is shorter than most of the 1911 replica pistols out there and it is also much quicker: not at all sluggish.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe white lettering of the "Warning" paragraph on the right side of the slide. I know why it's there rather than only in the manual where it belongs, but oh that we were able to escape the insane legal entanglements we must endure and preserve the beauty of our airguns!
What Others Should KnowThe Owner's Manual states clearly, "for steel BB's only" and warns of jams and voiding the warranty using other materials. I would not use the brittle stuff or uncoated lead shot but the copper plated Excite ammo has with few exceptions functioned in my BB airguns as well as steel. With most 1911 guns the velocity drops off too much for my liking to use them. But this ASG 1911 will shoot the Excite shot about 45 FPS faster than the other offerings shoot steel and the accuracy at 10 yards is to be cherished.
The magazine of this gun is typically of the ASG system and is much different than the commonly interchangeable magazines of most other 1911 brands. Nevertheless, it is a solidly built and reliable unit that I consider every bit as good despite being a wee bit harder to reload. Given the 100 fps gained in velocity, I like it just fine.
