The Cold Steel Trail Boss is compact enough to carry all day in your hand or strapped to your pack, yet tough enough for chores that would make a hatchet or tomahawk scream for mercy. Featuring a European style head with a 4" blade and a 4 1/2" cutting edge, it takes a big bite with every swing. Plus, it features a very sturdy, durable straight-grained American Hickory handle. In our extensive field-tests in the outback of Australia, the Trail Boss was used to chop kindling, clear roads and trails, to build blinds and even to chop down a fair sized tree!

It chops through wood so easily, I was amazed. I would recommend to anyone. I might just go get another one to take on hiking trips.
Almost perfect axe. Only thing I did when I got mine is sand the clear coat off the handle and oil it. Then reprofile the edge with a file. Now it's my go to axe for just about anything.
This axe just makes sense. It’s truly just a perfect axe to have in your collection. At the price you can’t beat it. If you don’t believe me look what PROHO says on it on YouTube. Wish the color wasn’t as light when I first got it till I had to find it in the dark next to the camp fire. 10/10 must have.
The reason i bought cold steel is because they've got a good reputation. This axe head is nice, sharpens well and I'm hoping it stays in place, due to other reviews not having a lot of confidence in it. I really wish they had more creativity with the handle... it's like something you'd buy off the shelf at your local hardware store. I suppose you get what you pay for.
Extremely handy, sharp as you know what, balanced and easily wielded in the woods or otherwise. Needs a sheath...come on, man. Also edge tips are fragile. Unseen rock and it snapped 1/8" off...not from abuse 'cause I love my blades.

I bought this axe a few weeks ago, and so far it has been a joy to use. I love the balance, power, and light weight. I also find that the wide blade helps me avoid overshooting the target and damaging the handle. Hopefully it lasts a long time.
I bought the Trail Boss for my trap line. It's the perfect size and weight, apparently someone else thought so too as it was stolen out of my truck while I went into the store. I replaced it and would do so again of nessicary. I've used it fo fell small trees, cut stakes for conibare traps, split medium size firewood and clear trails. All around a great addition to my line.
Great quality for the price. Wanted an axe backpacking and is just the right size and weight.

Very satisfied with the Trail Boss. I purchased it as a multi function axe. I use it for felling trees as well as chopping ice out of water tanks. It came sharp enought to cit down a 10 inch black cherry tree after chopping 3 iches of ice out of a cattle tank. Well made, solidly built and sharp!
