The Kalashnikov AK-74U Semi-Auto CO2 BB Rifle with Synthetic Stock is designed to bring to mind the shortened version of this venerable military rifle customized for use by the special forces of former Soviet countries. It is capable of velocities up to 425 FPS for hour after hour of exciting plinking and target shooting action.
The BB gun utilizes a durable polymer stock and a folding buttstock, and it features a full-metal receiver and barrel assembly, in addition to a folding skeletonized buttstock to make it easier to transport and carry. It has 24mm positive muzzle threads that fit most aftermarket muzzle devices, and it has the familiar checkered pistol grip common to the AK-74 series.

Very accurate stampings and nearly all metal and real wood foregrips. What's not to love? Decent heft, positive folding stock lock in both directions. I like the fact that you can do a partial takedown, although when you do, there isn't much there. Still, much more satisfying than the Crossman AK. I like the metal magazine shell that encases the CO2 and bb feed. And to top it off, it seems to rattle just like the real deal. The manual has a very detailed exploded drawing of the parts with a decent legend.
Things I Would Have ChangedMake a full auto version, add a stronger spring to the charging handle. Capacity isn't great, but okay for semiautomatic.
What Others Should KnowIf and when you take down this gun, be very careful to not lose the spring that fits inside the receiver the end of the rod that threads through the charging handle. Without it, the shell won't lock down. I didn't notice it fall out, but knew I was missing something when I tried to put it back together. Fortunately, I stepped on it barefoot in the carpet the next day. I sure couldn't see it when I was looking for it! I still haven't shot it, so I can't speak to accuracy or reliability. It sure is good looking though!
