The Springfield Armory M1A has a storied history in the firearms world, and has become one of the most well known and well respected rifles on the market today. Praised for its accuracy and rugged reliability, the M1A is the civilian version of the battlefield legend, the M14. The M14 was adopted by the U.S. Military in 1959 and remains in limited service to this day! Shooters rejoiced when Springfield Armory began producing the civilian version, the M1A, in 1974. The rifle quickly gained a following thanks to competition success at the National Matches at Camp Perry.
Under the Springfield Armory license, Air Venturi introduces the M1A underlever. Keeping accuracy in mind, the M1A is a faithful fixed barreled replica of the legendary firearm. A beautiful wood stock provides the heft and solid feel that real steel M1A owners will love. Weighing in at a hefty 9.9 lbs, the M1A Underlever is almost identical in weight to the National Match version of the firearm.
A true to form, windage and elevation adjustable rear sight peep sits at the back of the action, and lines up perfectly with the fixed front blade to help you place your shots on target. For those interested in scoping this rifle, there are threaded holes on the left hand side of the action that will accept a traditional M1A/M14 mount.
A 35 lbs cocking effort is made easier with the use of an extendable cocking lever, that can be quickly deployed before cocking to gain leverage. Thankfully, this extension doesn't dampen the authentic look of the rifle, as it is hidden within the existing cocking lever. We know you're wondering where you load your pellets, and that is another hidden feature of the M1A. During the cocking cycle, the upper hand guard actually slides forward, exposing a generous loading area and the end of the barrel to load you pellet into.
Those familiar with the M1A firearm will notice another unique and handy feature of the M1A underlever. The location of the release for the anti-bear trap safety mechanism is the bolt catch/release on the left hand side of the action! When you're loaded and ready to close the cocking lever, depress this tab and you'll be able to return the cocking lever home and take aim.
Whether you're a fan of the Springfield Armory M1A or just love realistic replica airguns, the M1A underlever blends realism and utility into an airgun deserving of the legendary Springfield Armory name!

This rifle has the look and feel that is very close to a real M1A . After cleaning the barrel and breaking it in, JSB 10.3 pellets performed excellent. Average FPS (850).
Things I would have changed:A better rear sight. The adjustments are course and the peep sight tends to move around. A scope mount would take care of this problem.
What others should know:I ordered the rifle with zip up carrying case. Rifle fits the case well. However the tie-down straps inside are to short to secure the rifle. They are useless.

Consistant accuracy, Ease of reloading
Things I would have changed:The peep sight was wobbly and extremely loose! I discovered that by forcing a thin strip of matchbook cardboard down in the Gearing mechanism it eliminated the peep sight wobble and gave the rifle extreme accuracy. Also, I located a replacement regulation peep sight for the M1A rifle on Ebay for nominal costs and it was a direct fit.
What others should know:i sighted my M1 in at 30 yards, What I discovered is to not adjust the peep sight for longer distances just lower the pellet weight. I paid the 10 for 10 shots but I inadvertently discovered that the tester missed a couple of flaws. One biggie is the priming lever does not lock in the down position, it will go back without needing to use the release mechanism.
