Featuring the same 650-BB reservoir, spring-piston powerplant, and lever action as the original 1938 youth rifle, this model adds some length to the stock and a little more heft to the whole package so as to be better suited to adult shooters. The adult version of this classic BB rifle weighs in at 2.95 lbs., vs. the original version's 2.2 lbs. Its longer stock increases the length of pull from 13.5" in the original Red Ryder to 15". This bigger Red Ryder makes the ideal companion to the original. What better way to introduce a young shooter to the hobby while revisiting your own youth at the same time!

I love this adult size Red Ryder BB lever action rifle!!! It makes me feel like a kid again! It's just plain fun to shoot at targets and practice shooting without the expense of ammo and range fees!!!
Things I Would Have ChangedMake a larger loop for adult hands. Also some type of padding on the metal loop so it doesn't hurt the top of your hand in using it like a real lever action rifle.
What Others Should KnowThere are some affordable aftermarket parts to upgrade your rifle on eBay that allows you to customize your Daisy Red Ryder rifle!
The rifle looks nice and is a blast to shoot.
Things I Would Have ChangedI own and shoot a lot of rifles - mostly centerfire and rimfire, but also a few other bb and pellet rifles. The trigger on this rifle is in awkward and unnatural position. It's too far forward. Would also like to see the trigger made of metal instead of plastic.
What Others Should KnowThis is the first time I ever used a Red Ryder. The cocking lever is way harder to operate than I expected.
It seems like half the time I don't get a bb loaded so I'm shooting nothing. I did discover that there is a little hole where you can tell if there's a bb loaded or not, so that helps.

I am 6' 1" tall and the fit is perfectly fine. Comfortable to shoulder and shoot compared to the regular Red Ryder that I bought at the same time for my grand daughter. Trigger is consistant and fine. Could be a touch lighter bit I can't complain.
Things I Would Have ChangedSlightly lighter trigger. Can not really think of anything else.
What Others Should KnowI was really surprised at how well this cheap little gun handles and shots. I have $1500 pcp guns but I still enjoy this little thing especially when the weather does not allow me to shoot outside. I did install a big loop on it which I highly recommend if you have large hands. Costs about 18 bucks and easy to install. My bedroom range is only about 10 feet so consider that, it's short of course but short trigger time is better than none. I had bought a Daisy Avanti 499B recently and compared the 2 at the same range. 10 shots groups, open sights on the Ryder and the target peep sight on the Avanti, just the way they come. Results.... 0.302" group for the Avanti with Daisy Precision. Not bad...0.010" group for the Adult Red Ryder with Daisy Premium Grade BBs. These are 10 shot groups to take luck out of the equation. I was blown away by that. I may never be able to repeat it, but at short ranges. This is a heck of gun for the money. BB guns are simply not supposed to be able to do this
